  • Patent number: 6640767
Abstract: The oil pan structure of the present invention comprises an oil pan separator 3, disposed within an oil pan 2, for separating a main chamber provided with a suction port disposed therewithin and a sub chamber provided with no suction port from each other, the oil pan separator 3 having a recess forming the main chamber, the main chamber communicating with the inside of an engine block 1, the recess being formed with communication holes 3c, 3d for communicating the main and sub chambers to each other. The sub chamber is formed so as to surround the main chamber as a whole, whereas the outer face of the bottom part of the oil pan separator 3 and the inner face of the bottom part of the oil pan 2 are not in contact with each other. Therefore, raising the temperature of engine oil within the main chamber earlier can lubricate the engine more effectively.

  • Patent number: 6170620
Abstract: An anti-squeal shim comprises a metal plate and a compound layer applied to at least one side of the metal plate. The compound includes a nonmetal fiber other than asbestos, an elastomer, a filler and small pieces of cork. The anti-squeal shim is disposed between a forcing member that urges a friction pad against a disc rotor and a backing plate of the friction pad in a disc brake. Also disclosed is a disc brake where only one side of the metal plate of the anti-squeal shim is coated with the compound layer and the anti-squeal shim is opposed to the forcing member without intervention of a backing-up shim.

  • Patent number: 6105736
Abstract: An anti-squeal shim comprises a metal plate and a compound layer applied only to one face of the metal plate. The compound includes a nonmetal fiber other than asbestos, an elastomer and a filler. The thickness of the compound layer is determined to be from 200 to 800 micron. The anti-squeal shim is disposed between a forcing member that urges a friction pad against a disc rotor and a backing plate of the friction pad in a disc brake with the metal plate opposed to the forcing member without the intervention of a backing-up shim and with the compound layer opposed to the backing plate.

  • Patent number: 5731040
Abstract: A method for manufacturing gasket material where a metal plate is coated with a compound that includes a compressible inorganic fiber, other than asbestos, a compressible organic fiber, and rubber and an inorganic filler. In forming the gasket material, the metal plate is coated with a heat resistant adhesive. The metal plate is then inserted between first and second metal rollers that are arranged adjacent and parallel to each other, rotate at different circumferential speeds to one another and in opposite directions, and heat resistant adhesive layer applied over the metal plate is opposed by the first roller. In which rolling, the compound with a solvent mixed therein is supplied to between the metal plate and the first roller that is turned at a circumferential speed that is slower than that of the second roller.

  • Patent number: 5615897
Abstract: A gasket material includes a sheet metal having a coating of adhesive applied thereon, and a coating layer of a compound or composition formed on the surface of the sheet metal, the compound or composition containing a fibrous material, fine cork particles and a rubber material. The gasket material provides improved material properties, including increased tensile strength, reduced stress relaxation, increased wear resistance and the like, while maintaining the capability of restoring itself from an applied compression.
