Abstract: A method and apparatus for reproducing an information signal recorded on a disc at a high reproducing speed by moving a reproducing light beam for reproducing the information signal across a track along which the information signal is recorded one or a plurality of times one track pitch by one track pitch. The movement of the reproducing light beam is caused responsive to a driving signal produced for a predetermined number of times consecutively by reading out a table providing a relation between the desired reproducing speed and the number of times the reproducing light beam is to be moved.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically searching a desired track position or one or a plurality of recording regions on an information recording medium which comprises pre-recorded tracks pre-recorded with an information signal and unrecorded tracks. The search is carried out based on the existence and non-existence of a reproduced radio frequency (RF) signal which is reproduced from the information recording medium.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for preventing duplex recording on an information recording medium comprising unrecorded tracks and pre-recorded tracks detects an unrecorded track having a starting address where a recording is to be started, detects a first pre-recorded track occurring after the unrecorded track, confirms an address of the first pre-recorded track by reproducing address signals from vicinities of the first pre-recorded track, records an information signal on unrecorded tracks occurring after the unrecorded track having the starting address, and forcibly stops the recording of the information signal at an unrecorded track having an address which is one less than the address of the first pre-recorded track.
