  • Patent number: 7793563
Abstract: A steering handlebar apparatus for a vehicle includes a rod-shaped steering handlebar having a hand grip at a distal end thereof, and also includes both a clutch lever and a hot start lever mounted thereon at a position proximal to the hand grip. A switch holder for holding various switches is mounted to the steering handlebar at a position proximal to the hand grip. The hot start lever is journaled on the lower surface of the switch holder so that the user can operate the hot start lever with the thumb of the hand which is holding the hand grip, and can simultaneously turn off the clutch lever with other fingers of the same hand. The inventive arrangement provides a steering handlebar apparatus for a vehicle which facilitates simultaneous operation of a handle lever and a hot start lever using the hand which is holding a hand grip of a steering handlebar.

  • Patent number: 7162500
Abstract: A memory media archiving and management system is provided in which data entrusted for archiving by a user can be rapidly retrieved. The memory media archiving system receives a memory media archiving request from a user to archive memory media. A database stores information relating to archiving locations for the memory media. That database receives from the user, via a communication line, volume names established for each of the memory media to be archived, and identifying information corresponding to the volume names. The system holds the information in association with information relating to archiving locations for the memory media.

  • Patent number: 7111192
Abstract: The present invention allows a back-up site used for disaster recovery to be constructed in a shorter period of time. In a disk array device 1 at a main site, a copy 4 of a RAID group 3 is generated. In-frame mirroring is used to generate this copy. The RAID group 4 is removed from the disk array device 1 by an operator and transported to a back-up site. The operator then installs each of the disks of the RAID group 4, respectively, in the disk array device 2, in such a manner that they adopt the same positions as in the RAID group 3. The configuration information 5 used in order to manage the RAID group 3 is downloaded to the disk array device 2 in the back-up site, by means of a portable storage medium 8, or via a communications network 7. Thereupon, the differential data between the disk array devices 1, 2 is reflected in the disk array device 2, whereupon construction of the back-up site is complete.

  • Patent number: 7069782
Abstract: A vehicle speed sensor mounting structure of a vehicle for supporting a vehicle speed sensor. The structure includes a vehicle body for suspending an engine. The engine output is transmitted through a final reduction gear to wheels via an axle. A vehicle speed sensor is mounted on the final reduction gear for detecting rotational speed of a final gear of the final reduction gear, thereby detecting the vehicle speed. The vehicle speed sensor is disposed higher than the center of the axle and near to the outside of the vehicle (vehicle front part) with respect to the center of the axle. With this configuration, flexibility in the mounting of a vehicle speed sensor can be increased and a separate member for protecting the vehicle speed sensor can be omitted. Thus, the number of parts required in the mounting structure can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5901254
Abstract: The present invention provides an image reducing system and method capable of retaining fine lines in a reduced image by reducing an original image and by quickly forming the reduced image with high quality. The method includes specifying positions of pixels of a reduced image in the original image according to reduction ratios, extracting a run of pieces of the same color information about the color of the pixels of the original image as a line, determining the line width of the extracted line and determining the line width after reduction in the reduction ratios based on the line width of the extracted line and calculating the centroid of the extracted line, and retaining the color information about the extracted line at a reduced pixel near the centroid on the basis of the centroid of the extracted line and the line width after reduction. The method further performs the step of determining the color information about each reduced pixel based on the retained color information.

  • Patent number: 5590317
Abstract: A document information compression and retrieval system which reduces the document data amount and shortens the retrieval time when mass document information is registered and retrieved. A method of registering document information in a document information retrieval system which stores document information consisting of a large number of characters for retrieval of the stored document information. Entered document information is separated into words. Whether or not each of the words is a word to which a compressed code is assigned is determined. If not already assigned, a compressed code is assigned to the word. The words are converted into the assigned compressed codes for storing a compressed text.

  • Patent number: 4949777
Abstract: A continuous casting process introduces the factor of rate temperature change for detecting break out in the cast metal. Introduction of rate of temperature change as a parameter representative of the cast metal condition is successful for avoiding the influence of variation of the casting condition, fluctuation of the powder to be introduced between the casting mold wall and the cast metal, casting speed and so forth. For achieving accurate detection of break out of the cast metal by introducing the temperature change factor, casting mold wall temperatures are measured at various measuring points which are circumferentially aligned. Rates of temperature change at each measuring point and average rate of temperature change of all measuring points are derived and compared for making judgement of possible break out when the difference of the rate of temperature change at each measuring point and the average rate of temperature change becomes greater than a predetermined value.
