  • Publication number: 20020093553
Abstract: A method for manufacturing liquid discharge heads is provided with discharge ports for discharging liquid, liquid flow paths communicated with the discharge ports for supplying liquid to the discharge ports, a substrate having heat generating members for creating bubbles in liquid, and movable members facing the heat generating members, each being arranged in each liquid flow path, having the free end on the discharge port side with a specific gap with the heat generating member. This method comprises the steps of forming the boundary layer used for providing a gap between the movable member and the substrate above the heat generating member on the substrate, of laminating the movable member on the boundary layer so as to position the free end above the heat generating member, at the same time fixing the movable member on the substrate, and of forming the gap between the movable member and the heat generating member by use of the boundary layer.

  • Patent number: 6328420
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an orifice plate used for a liquid discharge provided with discharge port for discharging liquid comprises the steps of preparing a non-conductive plate having recessed portion formed on the circumference of the flat portion corresponding to the discharge port, forming a first conductive material peelable from the non-conductive plate only in the recessed portion of the non-conductive plate, forming a plate member by plating the first conductive material with a second conductive material by electroforming method after the formation of the first conductive material, and obtaining the orifice plate having the discharge port by peeling off the plate member from the non-conductive plate. With the method thus arranged, it is possible to materialize the same precision as in the glass mask used for photolithography, and make the variation of orifice areas smaller for the formation of highly densified orifices.

  • Patent number: 6247806
Abstract: A liquid ejection head cartridge includes a liquid ejecting head and a liquid container. The liquid ejection head includes an ejection outlet, a bubble generation region, and a movable member disposed faced to the bubble generation region and displaceable between a first position and a second position further from the bubble generation region than the first position. The movable member moves from the first to the second position by pressure produced by the generation of a bubble to permit expansion of the bubble more in a downstream side closer to the ejection outlet.

  • Patent number: 5707430
Abstract: The concentration of a hydrocarbon gas in a gas discharged from a drain port is detected by a break-through gas concentration sensor provided in a discharge pipe connected to the drain port. The entire amount of the hydrocarbon gas discharged from the drain port as a result of breaking-through of an adsorbent layer is collected by a break-through gas collecting means, and the entire amount of the hydrocarbon gas collected by the break-through gas collecting means is detected. Thus, in measuring the adsorbing ability of a canister, the concentration of the hydrocarbon discharged from the canister by the breaking-through can be detected with the passage of time and in a stable manner, whereby a measurement value of an excellent accuracy can be provided by a single measurement.

  • Patent number: 5645036
Abstract: A fuel vapor capturing canister includes a cylindrical casing having a communicating hole which is formed at one end so as to communicate with the atmosphere and another communicating hole which is formed at the other end so as to communicate with a fuel tank and an intake system of an engine. An adsorbent is accommodated in the casing so as to form at least one layer. A pair of partitioning plates partition the adsorbent layer longitudinally of the casing. A deflecting plate is disposed between the partitioning plates so as to protrude from an inner wall face of the casing inwardly of the same. The partitioning plates are open in the vicinity of sides of the deflecting plate respectively.

  • Patent number: 5538543
Abstract: A fuel vapor capturing canister includes a casing formed into the shape of a cylinder and accommodating an adsorbent material and a plurality of partition plates each formed of an impermeable material. The adsorbent material accommodated in the casing has one of two faces communicating with the atmosphere and the other face communicating both with a fuel storage system and an intake system of an engine. The partition plates are disposed in the casing so as to divide the adsorbent material into a plurality of layers. The partition plates has respective communicating holes formed so as not to lie one above another. This arrangement of the partition plates lengthens a path of fuel vapor passing through the activated carbon layers. Since the distance of flow of the fuel vapor in contact with the adsorbent material is thus increased, the fuel component adsorbing efficiency can be improved.

  • Patent number: 5538542
Abstract: A fuel vapor capturing canister includes a casing formed into the shape of a cylinder and accommodating an adsorbent material. A partition member divides the activated carbon into lower and upper layers. The partition member includes a cross rib and upper and lower walls sandwiching the rib. One of four pieces of the cross rib is connected to the inner peripheral wall of the partition member. Two chambers located at both sides of the piece connected to the inner peripheral wall of the partition member communicate with each other through a communicating path defined between the other pieces of the rib and the inner peripheral wall of the partition member. One of the two chambers has in its underside openings communicating with the lower activated carbon layer while the other chamber has in its top openings communicating with the upper activated carbon layer. The fuel vapor flows between the two layers of activated carbon.

  • Patent number: 5479904
Abstract: Plural canisters adsorb fuel vapor generating from a fuel tank (and a float chamber) while an engine stops. Purge means purge fuel vapor adsorbed in one or more canisters selected to be purged when the engine has been started. Unselected canister(s) is additionally selected as an object(s) for purging as the time elapses after the starting of the engine. At the initial purging stage, only fuel vapor adsorbed in the selected canister(s) is purged and gradually supplied to an inspire system, so as to prevent the air-fuel ratio from being over-rich especially at the start of the engine. Other canister(s) is subjected to purging thereafter, and eventually the fuel vapors adsorbed in all canisters are purged at the same time. Purging canister(s) is done in a short time and is made rather even.
