  • Patent number: 8995905
Abstract: A wireless network relay apparatus includes a Layer 2 switch and a line control device as well as wireless/wired line terminating devices performing band limitation associated with an AMR function. It measures traffic passing through each line terminating device in inflow/outflow path directions. Upon detecting a modulation scheme changed due to an AMR function in a wireless area, it may specify a line terminating device so as to read a desired modulation scheme from a transmission source modulation scheme conversion table of the line control device based on traffic. It may change a local modulation scheme with a desired modulation scheme when a difference therebetween is above a predetermined number of stages. By tracking a modulation scheme changed for a transmission destination, it is possible to appropriately change a modulation scheme for a transmission source, thus suppressing traffic without discarding necessary data.

  • Patent number: 8817613
Abstract: A radio transmission apparatus serving as a Layer-2 switch (L2SW) or a router includes a MAC frame transmission device and a radio transmission device with an adaptive modulation function, which switches over a radio transmission capacity in response to fluctuations of quality of radio transmission lines. The radio transmission device determines a modulation method based on reception power of a reception signal from a radio counterpart station, so that a PAUSE frame multiplexing the modulation method is forwarded to the MAC frame transmission device. The MAC frame transmission device detects a current radio transmission capacity from the PAUSE frame, selects QoS setting suited to the radio transmission capacity from among a plurality of QoS settings, and performs a control operation based on QoS setting with respect to a LAN signal from a user network. The radio transmission device modulates and transmits the LAN signal to the radio counterpart station.

  • Publication number: 20130064094
Abstract: In a wireless communication network, a data communication device (e.g. a Layer 2 switch) includes a wireless monitoring device, a path cost control device, and a communication path control device. Due to an increase of path costs in wireless areas, the path control device recalculates path costs over a network so as to carry out switching to an appropriate data communication path, e.g. a LAN with blocking a wireless line. When a wireless band is recovered due to an AMR function, the wireless monitoring device sends a path cost change request to the path cost control device, which in turn reduces a path cost at a wireless line port. Additionally, the communication path control device recalculates path costs over a network so as to switch over data communication paths. Thus, it is possible to select an optimum data communication path with a low cost.
