  • Patent number: 8699863
Abstract: A video recording apparatus provides a slow motion effect or a quick motion effect by digitally converting the frame-rate instead of by changing the playback speed of the film, and using few recording media without requiring any special device at playing. A picture encoding part encodes only valid frames by changing a rate-controlling method so that a predetermined playing frame-rate is obtained at a standard data-rate at playing. And a TS multiplexing part multiplexes by converting a frequency of a standard STC clock by only a ratio of valid frame-rate and playing frame-rate, and generating values for PCR, PTS, and DTS.

  • Publication number: 20120242803
Abstract: A conventional device adjusts the convergence angle of its imaging unit in a manner that the left-and-right face detection areas are at the same coordinates and thus forms a stereo image that will be placed on a display screen during display, but fails to place a subject at an intended stereoscopic position. A stereo image capturing device (1000) detects a face area from a right image, detects a disparity using the left-and-right face areas, and sets the imaging parameters (the subject distance, focal length, stereo base, and convergence angle) to adjust the detected disparity to a disparity enabling the subject to be placed at an intended placement position. This device forms a stereo image having an appropriate stereoscopic effect in which a target subject is placed at an intended stereoscopic position. The device uses only a limited target area for face detection and thus requires less calculation for face detection.

  • Publication number: 20120236126
Abstract: A conventional stereo image pickup device forms an appropriate stereo image by changing the stereo base in accordance with the distance to a subject, but fails to select an appropriate focal length or stereo base by simply using the subject distance without obtaining the subject size. A stereo image pickup device (1000) estimates the size of a subject in accordance with the imaging mode set in a typical two-dimensional camera, and estimates the subject distance using the estimated size of the subject and the focal length, and further calculates the stereo base that enables an optimum disparity to be achieved using the subject distance, determines the stereo base, and aligns the two imaging units (the first imaging unit (103) and the second imaging unit (104)). As a result, the stereo image pickup device forms a stereo image having an appropriate stereoscopic effect.

  • Patent number: 8208797
Abstract: The present invention provides a recording apparatus that generates a transport stream so that a boundary between recording units (aligned units) and a file division point (i.e., a boundary between GOPs) always coincide with each other without obtaining information on the file size or the like. When generating a transport stream by time-division multiplexing transport packets, n or more transport packets (e.g., null packets N) other than a video packet are inserted between a video packet group generated from a single encoding unit (GOP) and a video packet group subsequent to the video packet group. When d indicates the data length of the transport packet, h indicates the data length of a fixed-length header added to each of the transport packets before being recorded on a data recording medium, and L indicates a recording unit length to the data recording medium, L?(n+1)×(d+h) is satisfied.
