    Abstract: A waterless planographic printing plate, wherein the waterless planographic printing plate comprises a laser-light-sensitive layer which constitute a first layer provided on a support, containing a compound (A) generating an acid by irradiating an actinic light thereto, a compound (B) converting a laser light to heat and a polymer compound (C) which is decomposed by heat under an acidic condition; and a layer which constitutes a second layer having an ink repellent surface thereon. The entire surface of the waterless planographic printing plate is exposed with ultraviolet light. The printing plate is irradiated imagewisely with an infrared laser light to heat the portion irradiated with the laser light, and at least a layer having an ink repellent surface at the portion irradiated with the laser light is removed.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of making a waterless lithographic printing plate having an image by which printing can be effected without using dampening water, comprising the steps of (1) providing a waterless lithographic fresh printing plate by layering on a substrate a first layer which converts laser light to heat and a second layer which has an ink-repellent surface, sequentially, (2) exposing the waterless lithographic fresh printing plate laser light by irradiating laser light which can be absorbed by the first layer, and (3) applying a liquid having a surface tension of 25-50 dyn/cm.sup.2 to the second layer, and abrading the surface of the second layer to remove the exposed portion of the second layer selectively so that an image enabling printing without using dampening water can be formed.

    Abstract: A silver halide light-sensitive material is disclosed. The light-sensitive material comprises a support and two or more layers. Silver halide, a reducing agent, an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable compound or a cross-linkable polymer and a base precursor are independently contained in at least one of the layers. A layer containing the base precursor further contains a specific polyvinyl alcohol. The first embodiment of the specific polyvinyl alcohol (I) has such a chemical structure that a terminal alkyl group having 4 or more carbon atoms is attached to a polyvinyl alcohol. The second embodiment of the specific polyvinyl alcohol (II) is a block copolymer consisting of a vinyl alcohol unit and a hydrophobic unit, which is more hydrophobic than the vinyl alcohol unit. The third embodiment is a mixture of two polyvinyl alcohols (III) and (IV). The polyvinyl alcohol (III) has a saponification degree of not less than 95%.

Any of the silver halide, the reducing agent, the polymerizable compound and the polymer are not encapsulated in the layer. The image forming method comprising the steps of imagewise exposing to light the light-sensitive material and simultaneously or thereafter heating the light-sensitive material at a temperature of not lower than 70.degree. C. At the heat development, the silver halide is developed and the polymerizable compound or the cross-linkable polymer is hardened. Thus, a hardened image is formed on the light-sensitive material.
