    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a process for breeding a glabrous variety of rice crop, this process comprising the steps of culturing tissues from a target rice plant, culturing the calli formed to a regeneration medium, growing the regenerates and selecting glabrous plants therefrom them, a new and distinct variety of a glabrous variety of a rice plant obtained by this process, and a process for the production of a glabrous plant which comprises further reproducing the plants. This glabrous variety is useful for rice cultivation.
