  • Patent number: 5872021
Abstract: In a method for manufacturing an LCD device where a gate insulating layer is formed on an insulating substrate and a signal line pattern layer and a pixel electrode pattern layer are formed on a signal line forming area and a pixel electrode forming area, respectively, of the gate insulating layer, a part of the gate insulating layer between the signal line forming area and the pixel electrode forming area is etched.

  • Patent number: 5789761
Abstract: A thin-film transistor (TFT) array for preventing the light reflected inside a liquid crystal panel from entering a channel layer, while suppressing an increase of stray capacitance. A light shading film and an antireflection film atop source and drain electrodes are made of semiconductor layers and are spaced from each other on a TFT. The reduction in reflected light prevents an increase in an off current and therefore improves the quality of a liquid crystal display.

  • Patent number: 5546205
Abstract: In an active matrix liquid crystal display panel, each pixel electrode is connected to a first drain bus line through a thin film transistor which is formed adjacent to an intersection between the first drain bus line and an orthogonal gate bus line. A compensating capacitor lower electrode extends from the gate bus line at a position near to a second drain bus line which is adjacent to the pixel electrode in such a manner that the pixel electrode is positioned between the first and second drain bus lines. A compensating capacitor upper electrode is formed integrally with a source electrode of the thin film transistor, to extend along the pixel electrode so as to overlap above the compensating capacitor lower electrode through an insulator layer. Thus, a compensating capacitor is formed of the compensating capacitor lower and upper electrodes and is connected to a gate-source capacitance of the thin film transistor.

  • Patent number: 5412457
Abstract: An electrophotographic printing apparatus is provided. This printing apparatus includes a photosensitive medium designed to form thereon an electrostatic latent image, a developing roller designed to tone the electrostatic latent image with a toner to form a toner image on the photosensitive medium, a driving mechanism for driving the developing roller for rotation, a transport mechanism for moving the developing roller into engagement and disengagement with and from the photosensitive medium for the formation of the toner image thereon, and a control unit adapted to control the driving mechanism to rotate the developing roller immediately before the developing roller is brought by the transport mechanism into engagement with the photosensitive medium, and controls the driving mechanism to stop the developing roller from rotating immediately after the developing roller is moved by the transport mechanism away from the photosensitive medium.
