Patent number: 8228390Abstract: In an image taking apparatus, an imaging unit senses an image of a subject, and a face detection unit detects a face in the image sensed by the imaging unit. A motion detection unit detects an amount of face motion indicating an amount of shake of an area of the face detected by the face detection unit in the image sensed by the imaging unit and also detects an amount of background motion indicating an amount of shake of an area other than the face area. Patent number: 7639285Abstract: It is now possible to correct flicker without the risk of correcting flicker by error if a moving subject exists in the scene by using values detected in the past in order to prevent degradation of image quality from taking place. The integral value obtained by integrating an input video signal that includes a flicker component over not less than a horizontal period and the difference value between integral values of adjacent fields or frames is normalized. Then, the amplitude component and the phase component of the flicker component are estimated. A flicker coefficient for canceling the amplitude component and the phase component of the flicker component estimated is generated on the basis of the probability of being under the lighting of a fluorescent lamp. The flicker coefficient and the input video signal are computationally determined to obtain a video signal with a reduced flicker component.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2006Date of Patent: December 29, 2009Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Hirofumi Nomura, Masahiro Ito

Publication number: 20070064115Abstract: An imaging apparatus is disclosed. The imaging apparatus includes an image capturing section, a motion detecting section, a reliability determining section, a shaking compensating section, and a filtering section. The image capturing section captures a plurality of images which chronologically differ. The motion detecting section detects motion of the plurality of images and generates motion information. The reliability determining section determines reliability of the motion information. The shaking compensating section compensates shaking which takes place among the plurality of images corresponding to the motion information. The filtering section filters an image which has been compensated for shaking by using a recursive filter. A characteristic of the filtering section is varied corresponding to the reliability of the motion information.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2006Publication date: March 22, 2007Applicant: Sony CorporationInventors: Hirofumi Nomura, Jinyo Kumaki, Junji Shimada, Nobuo Nishi, Long Meng
