Abstract: A light distribution control device, if a first upper limit number N1?the number of near-distance targets T1, controls a lamp to irradiate the near-distance targets with light having illuminance according to attributes of the near-distance targets; if a remaining number M?the number of long-distance targets T2, controls the lamp to irradiate the long-distance targets with light having illuminance according to attributes of the long-distance targets; if N1<T1, controls the lamp to form a light distribution pattern that does not depend on the near-distance targets and the long-distance targets; and, if M<T2, controls the lamp to form a light distribution pattern that does not depend on the long-distance targets.

Abstract: A light distribution control device controls formation of a light distribution pattern by a light distribution variable lamp. The light distribution control device controls the light distribution variable lamp so as to reduce an illuminance of light that illuminates a non-traveling road when a vehicle reaches a first location a predetermined distance before a forked road, while a normal light distribution pattern is formed that includes, in an illumination range thereof, a side illuminating a traveling road of the vehicle at the forked road and a side illuminating the non-traveling road, and to form a guiding light distribution pattern in which an illuminance of light that illuminates the traveling road is higher than the illuminance of the light that illuminates the non-traveling road.

Abstract: A vehicular lamp 1 including a lamp unit 2, in which a light-emitting diode 2a is used as the light source, and a cover member 4, which is provided between the lamp unit 2 and an outer lens 3 of the lamp and located near the inside surface of the outer lens 3 so as to cover the lamp unit 2 except its light-emitting region. The cover member 4 is formed of a material that has good heat conductivity, and heat generated by the light-emitting diode 2a is transferred to the cover member 4 and to the outer lens 3, thus heating the outer lens.

Abstract: A vehicular headlamp that provides near-ultraviolet illumination of desired areas but which assures that sufficient brightness can be obtained in areas illuminated with visible light without having to combine the lamp with another type of headlamp. The headlamp includes a light-emitting unit accommodated in a lamp housing including a substantially parabolic reflector, a discharge bulb mounted inside the reflector to generate both visible light components and ultraviolet rays, and a light-emitting lens disposed in front of the reflector to irradiate the light reflected from the reflector in the forward direction.

Abstract: A beam-forming shade for use in a vehicular headlamp comprising a cylindrical shade body disposed horizontally in surrounding relation to a bulb of the vehicular headlamp so as to interrupt some parts of light emitted from a light source and a connecting member extending downwardly from the shade body and having a single mounting hole to be attached to a reflector by a single screw. The shade of the present invention is obtained by bending a single thin metal plate which is previously cut to form a predetermined contour, which plate having a continuous developed form of the cylindrical shade body and the connecting member, thereby obtaining an integral shade.
