  • Patent number: 5748773
Abstract: An image processing apparatus having a first mode for processing electrical signals by a pre-scan operation and a second mode for processing electrical signals by a main scan operation. The first mode forms a histogram on the basis of electrical signals obtained by the pre-scan operation, and detects predetermined feature points from the formed histogram. A table is formed for converting signal levels of the electrical signals according to the detected predetermined feature points of the histogram based on the image type of the original. The second mode generates reproduction signals from electrical signals obtained by the main scan operation in accordance with the table.

  • Patent number: 5722031
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit for forming images onto sheets in either one of a first mode for sequentially forming the images onto the sheets from a last page and a second mode for sequentially forming the images onto the sheets from a front page. The apparatus also includes a rotation processing unit for rotating the image in the direction of 180.degree. for the direction of the image in the first mode before the image forming unit forms the images in the second mode. The apparatus further includes a tray for stacking the sheets, a reversing path for reversing the sheet in the second mode, a conveying path for conveying the sheets formed with the images by the image forming unit to the tray directly or through the reversing path, and a stapler for performing a stapling on an upstream side in the conveying direction in the sheet and on a left side or a right side in the conveying direction.

  • Patent number: 5699546
Abstract: A memory management control device and a memory management control method capable of preventing run away of an image processing apparatus caused by a rewrite to a memory, are provided. In rewriting a program stored in a flash memory 402 of a controller 400 included in an image processing apparatus, an operating state detector 500 detects the operating state of the image processing apparatus and transmits the detection result to an external apparatus 9. On the basis of this detected operating state, the external apparatus 9 performs rewrite control for the flash memory 402. If the image processing apparatus is in operation, or is in an intermediate state, an abnormal state, or a wait state, a rewrite action is executed after the state is canceled.

  • Patent number: 5640232
Abstract: An image forming apparatus performs the printing in any of a copy mode, a facsimile mode and a print mode, having a sorter for sorting ejected sheets, wherein the operation is controlled suitably for each mode when the number of sheets stored in a bin of said sorter is over the upper limit. An image forming method using a plurality of bins, and a counter for counting the number of sheets stored in each bin, includes interrupting the print if the number of sheets stored in the bin is over the upper limit in the copy mode, and continuing the print and switching the bin, in the printer and facsimile mode, if the number of sheets is over the upper limit.

  • Patent number: 5592280
Abstract: A sheet stapling apparatus includes a storage unit for storing sheets ejected out from an image forming apparatus, and a stapling unit for stapling to the sheets stored in the storage unit. The sheet stapling apparatus can execute a first bending process for bending the feet of a staple which were pierced through the sheets to the inside and a second bending process for bending the feet of the staple which were pierced through the sheets to the outside. In the facsimile mode or the printer mode, the second bending process is executed.

  • Patent number: 5565964
Abstract: A multifunction image processing apparatus allows autoclear function to clear only a process mode designated by an operator, if no key-input has been made at an operation panel, otherwise, allows the autoclear function to operate against a pre-designated function and/or a currently-used function mode. The operator can designate an initial picture of a process mode to be displayed after autoclearing can be designated. The apparatus has good operability since the autoclear can be performed in accordance with the respective functions.

  • Patent number: 5408343
Abstract: An image processing apparatus in which a color identifier identifies the color of an input image based on an input color-image signal. A luminance detector detects luminance information in the input color-image signal. An image generator generates a predetermined pattern which is indicative of the color identified by the color identifier. A measurement device measures the luminance distribution of the detected luminance signal which is outside an area in which color is identified by the color identifier. The output density of the input color-image signal is set in accordance with the measured luminance distribution, and an output monochromatic image is produced in which colors of the input image are identified by the predetermined patterns.
