  • Patent number: 4961660
Abstract: A method for correcting mistypes in an electric typewriter, wherein a printing type corresponding to a character to be corrected is struck a plurality of plural times onto a character, with a correction tape intervening between the printing type and the character, is disclosed. According to this method, a shifting operation of the correction tape is started after moving a carriage and the printing type to the position corresponding to the character. Then, when the shifting operation has been completed, the striking operation of the printing type is performed to correct the character.

  • Patent number: 4708505
Abstract: A typewriter misprint correction method in which misprint is completely erased when ink is lifted from the paper by erasing impressions through correction tape, erasing impression being conducted two or more times for each character and a prescribed length of correction tape being fed after at least one erasing impressions.

  • Patent number: 4648731
Abstract: A correction member driving system for a printer in which an error such as a mistyped character on a recording member is erased by an error correction member in a sequence comprising the steps of positioning a correction member at a position operatively aligned with the printing error, typing a type character corresponding to the error through the error correction member on the recording member to thereby erase the error, and separating the error correction member from the recording member by automatically forwarding the error correction member by a predetermined distance. The preferred embodiment further comprises the steps of automatically backspacing the error correction member to the erase position, and returning the error correction member to a storage position.

  • Patent number: 4645365
Abstract: A paper feed system in a printer includes a platen for supporting a recording paper sheet, a paper feed drive motor, and a transmission gear mechanism for transferring the rotation of the paper feed drive motor to the platen so as to conduct an automatic paper feed operation. The paper feed system further allows a manual paper feed operation wherein the platen is manually rotated. A detection system is provided which detects the manual paper feed operation. If the manual paper feed operation has been conducted before the automatic paper feed operation, a compensating paper drive is first conducted when an automatic paper feed instruction is developed. In the compensating paper drive, the platen is first driven to rotate in the reverse direction by a predetermined amount and, then to rotate in the forward direction by the same amount, thereby compensating for the displacement of the paper sheet location caused by the backlash of the transmission gear mechanism during the manual paper feed operation.

  • Patent number: 4618278
Abstract: A paper feed control system in a printer allows two types of manual paper feed operation. In a first type of manual paper feed operation, a course manual paper feed is conducted while an electrical detent operation is conducted by a paper feed drive pulse motor. In a second type of manual paper feed operation, a fine adjustment of the paper position is carried out while the electrical detent operation is precluded. A counter system is associated with the rotation of the paper feed drive pulse motor so as to provide the electrical detent operation at preselected positions. When the second type of manual paper feed operation is completed, the counter system is reset so that the subsequent electrical detent operation is carried out with reference to the finely adjusted paper position.

  • Patent number: 4408917
Abstract: A paper guide mechanism in a printer includes a platen and a plurality of paper feed rollers for setting a paper sheet around the platen. A plurality of slidable guide plates are disposed below the platen adjacent to the paper feed rollers. The upper surfaces of the slidable guide plates are shaped to accomodate the surface of the platen. To set the paper sheet around the platen, the slidable guide plates are shifted along the surface of the platen so that the slidable guide plates are protruded toward the front portion of the platen in order to ensure an easy setting of the paper sheet. When the paper setting operation is completed, the slidable guide plates are returned to the normal position so as not to disturb the printing operation.

  • Patent number: 4401990
Abstract: An ink jet system printer of the charge amplitude controlling type includes a carriage travelling across the printing region. A nozzle for emitting ink droplets and a slidable member are disposed on the carriage. The slidable member supports a charging tunnel and a cleaning pad for cleaning the front surface of the nozzle. When the carriage is positioned at the leftmost position before initiating the actual printing operation, the slidable member is slided on the carriage so that the cleaning pad contacts the front surface of the nozzle for cleaning purposes. Thereafter, the slidable member is held stationary on the carriage at a position wherein the charging tunnel confronts the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4369450
Abstract: An ink jet system printer has a printer head for emitting ink droplets toward a recording paper. Objectional ink mist is inevitably formed and diffused in various directions after the ink droplets impinge upon the recording paper. The printer head includes a first chamber for introducing the ink mist diffused in front of the printer head, a second chamber for accommodating an ink droplet issuance unit for emitting the ink droplets, and a fan system for creating an air flow directed from the first chamber to the second chamber, thereby effectively introducing the ink mist into the first chamber. A filter member is disposed in the first chamber for removing the ink mist introduced into the first chamber. The ink droplet issuance unit is disposed in the second chamber so that a stream of the ink droplets is inclined from a line perpendicular to the surface of the recording paper.
