    Abstract: In the process of conveying a slab from continuous casting or large ingot casting equipment by means of a conveyance table comprising conveyance rollers, the slab is stopped on the table and raised therefrom and, at the raised position, the slab is divided lengthwise thereof by gas cutting into at least two. The divided slabs are individually transferred to the downstream, where slags formed on the lower end edge of the cut surface of each divided slab are continuously removed.
