  • Patent number: 8150619
Abstract: An automobile navigation system determines whether or not the relevant vehicle is traveling and whether or not routing assistance is being provided. When the results of both the determinations are affirmative, a displayed map image is scrolled by an amount of scrolling corresponding to the size of a guided route in response to an operation to a touch panel for scrolling, and, further, the scale of the display map image is changed by an amount of change corresponding to the size of the guided route in response to an operation to the touch panel for scale change.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 17, 2007
Date of Patent: April 3, 2012
    Assignee: DENSO CORPORATION
    Inventor: Hirokazu Sakano
  • Patent number: 7693656
Abstract: In a navigation apparatus in a vehicle, a user designates a validating route, which is stored in a memory device. A control unit invalidates a predetermined function of the navigation apparatus at a start-up, which is for the first time after an in-vehicle battery is connected or which results from turning on of a power source. Use of the navigation apparatus by the user is thereby disturbed. When the control unit determines that a route, which the vehicle has traveled through, is included in the previously designated validating route stored in the memory device, the control unit re-validates the invalidated predetermined function.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 20, 2007
Date of Patent: April 6, 2010
    Assignee: DENSO CORPORATION
    Inventor: Hirokazu Sakano
  • Patent number: 7400968
Abstract: In a vehicle navigation apparatus, displaying an enlarged view of an intersection within a guide route is suppressed when a value N associated with a corresponding passing direction of the intersection exceeds a learning reference value. When the value N is not more than the learning reference value, the enlarged view of the intersection is displayed on a display unit. When a deletion operation is received while the enlarged view is displayed, the value N is incremented by “1.” In contrast, when an enlarged view display operation is received while the enlarged view is not displayed, the value N is decremented by “1.
