  • Publication number: 20170006912
Abstract: A cellulose acetate tow band for use in a cigarette filter, in which a filament denier is not less than 5.0 denier, a Feret area of a filament is not less than 0.5, and/or a ratio S/L of a cross-sectional area S of the filament to a cross-sectional peripheral length L of the filament is not less than 5. The filament denier may be not more than 10 denier. The Feret area may be not more than 0.9. The ratio S/L may be not more than 9. In an apparatus for or a method of manufacturing a tow band, round-shaped spinning holes (10) each with a diameter of not less than 50 ?m are used. The diameter of each round-shaped spinning hole (10) may be not more than 100 ?m.

  • Patent number: 9289013
Abstract: To provide a cigarette filter that can achieve both strength in a dry state and disintegration in a wet state, this cigarette filter has a filter plug containing a cellulose ester staple fiber, a pulp, and an alkali metal salt of a water-soluble anionic polymer. The filter plug has an alkali metal content of 2 to 100 ?mol per gram of the filter plug. The water-soluble anionic polymer may include at least one member selected from the group consisting of a polyacrylic acid and a polysaccharide having a carboxyl group.

  • Patent number: 5087367
Abstract: A selectively water-permeable hydrolyzed membrane characterized in that it is mainly made of a material which can generate a carboxyl group by hydrolysis and that a part of the material is hydrolyzed to have carboxyl groups, which may be further coated with a hydrophilic polymer. The above membrane is useful as a selectively water-permeable membrane and is applicable not only to pervaporation and vapor permeation, but also to reverse osmosis, dehumidification of air and so on.

  • Patent number: 4895685
Abstract: A crosslinked composite membrane having high permeation velocity and sepaion factor and a process for producing the same. The membrane comprises a skin layer comprising a crosslinking reaction product of a water-soluble polysaccharide having a sulfonate group and/or a sulfonic acid group and a polyfunctional melamine compound the crosslinked composite membrane can be formed on a porous base such as an ultrafilter.

  • Patent number: 4871461
Abstract: A permeable membrane through which water or its vapor permeates selectively nd which contains a polyion complex formed by the association by an ionic bond between an anionic polymer and a cationic polymer on the surface of the membrane and/or in the membrane. This membrane is useful in the separation of water from an aqueous solution of an organic substance or a gaseous mixture of water with an organic substance, and exhibits excellent resistance to solvent, particularly water, and a high permeation rate and a high separation coefficient.
