  • Patent number: 8500444
Abstract: A rotary kiln includes a cylindrical shell that rotates about its own axis and that has a heat treatment chamber provided radially inward of the shell. In the rotary kiln, a heat treatment is performed on a process material in the heat treatment chamber to manufacture a battery material. The shell is made of a carbon material. Since the shell is made of a carbon material, the rotary kiln can suppress contamination of metal scale, which adversely affects the battery material, into the battery material.

  • Publication number: 20120258988
Abstract: A therapeutic or prophylactic agent for diabetes includes a thiazolidine derivative as a PPAR-? agonist as an effective component which exhibits a reduced side effect of the PPAR-? agonist. The therapeutic or prophylactic agent for diabetes includes a particular IP agonist such as beraprost sodium (BPS), and a thiazolidine derivative such as pioglitazone or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Since the therapeutic or prophylactic agent exhibits a sufficiently effective hypoglycemic action without being accompanied by side effects characteristic to PPAR-? agonists, the agent is useful as a highly safe and effective therapeutic or prophylactic agent for diabetes.

  • Patent number: 6452539
Abstract: An electromagnetic wave radiation control apparatus includes an antenna, a modulator, an amplifier, and a radiation control unit. The modulator modulates a carrier wave based on a transmission signal to output a modulated signal, wherein the modulator stops the output of the modulated signal in response to a power off command. The amplifier amplifies the modulated signal such that the amplified signal is radiated as electromagnetic wave from the antenna, when the modulated signal is outputted from the modulator. The radiation control unit generates the power off command to the modulator, when radiation of electromagnetic wave in a current radiation direction of the antenna is inhibited, or when a level of a reception signal by the antenna is equal to or lower than a predetermined minimum level.

  • Patent number: 6031933
Abstract: The outer appearance of a golf ball (1) having a multiplicity of dimples (9) in its surface is inspected for detecting a defect (10) on the ball surface, by illuminating light to the golf ball (1), rotating the golf ball at a constant speed in one direction, operating a line sensor camera (4) to take a series of plurality of line images of the ball surface along a line (b) perpendicular to the rotational direction (a), the camera delivering image data including the line images, constructing a two-dimensional image from the image data, converting a brightness change appearing in the two-dimensional image in the rotational direction of the ball into a variation per preset unit, and subjecting the resulting variation data to binary processing on the basis of a threshold set between the variation associated with the dimple (9) and the variation associated with the defect (10), thereby detecting whether or not the defect (10) is present.

  • Patent number: 5777244
Abstract: A portion of the surface of a golf ball (g) to be inspected is photographed while uniformly illuminating it with light without any optical disturbances. The golf ball (g) surface is illuminated with diffuse reflection light obtained by reflecting light by a white diffuse reflecting plate (1) having fine irregularities on a surface and/or diffuse transmission light obtained by transmitting light by a white diffuse transmitting plate (4) having fine irregularities on a surface. Using the resulting clear image, the golf ball is inspected for outer appearance.

  • Patent number: 5703687
Abstract: An undesirable protrusion on a golf ball is automatically detected by means of an optical system. Light (5) is illuminated to a selected position (3) on the spherical surface of a golf ball (1a) in a tangential direction. The ball (1a) is rotated in line with the light illuminating direction. A line sensor camera (6) is operated to take a line image of the spherical surface in the vicinity of the selected position and along a line perpendicular to the light illuminating direction. A two-dimensional image is constructed from image data of the camera. An abnormal brightness change which appears in the two-dimensional image as a result of an undesirable protrusion (9a, 9b) on the spherical surface shutting out the light (5) is detected, thereby detecting the presence of the undesirable protrusion.
