  • Publication number: 20060247090
Abstract: A toroidal type continuously variable transmission which maintains a gear ratio stably and continue to use the same gear ratio control even for a different model type of support shaft for supporting rotatably a power roller which differs in shaft diameter. A power roller 11 is rotatably supported by a displacement shaft 31 which protrudes from a trunnion 6 and a thrust ball bearing 39 provided between the power roller 11 and the trunnion 6. A secondary shaft portion 34 of the displacement shaft 31 is fittingly inserted into a hole 41a in an outer race 41 of the thrust ball bearing 39. A clearance between the hole 41a in the outer race 41 and the secondary shaft portion 34 is set in a range from 0 to 0.05 mm.

  • Publication number: 20060122030
Abstract: A toroidal type continuously variable transmission has an input shaft to which a rotation torque is input, an input side disk and an output side disk that are concentrically and rotatably supported by the input shaft in a state that an inner peripheral surface of the input side disk opposes to an inner peripheral surface of the output side disk, a power roller held between the input side disk and the output side disk and a hydraulic loading device applying predetermined pressing force so that the power roller is pressed between the input and output side disks. Fine grooves are formed on at least a radially inner part of the inner peripheral surface of the input side disk and at least radially outer part of the inner peripheral surface of the output side disk, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20060073935
Abstract: A toroidal type continuously variable transmission has input and output side disks arranged concentrically with a first axis, a power roller, a trunnion swung around a second axis, the trunnion including a main body portion, bent wall portions, pivot shafts and an oval hole, an outer ring contained in a pocket portion provided on the trunnion and a bearing for movably supporting the outer ring in the direction perpendicular to the second axis provided between the rain body portion and the outer ring. The outer ring includes a first shaft portion for rotatably supporting the power roller and a second shaft portion arranged concentrically with the first shaft portion and movably supported by the oval hole along a direction perpendicular to the second axis. Tangential forces generated between the power roller, the input and output side disks are supported on the second shaft portion and the trunnion.

  • Publication number: 20050014598
Abstract: A toroidal-type continuously variable transmission according to the present invention includes an input shaft, an input disk and an output disk, plural power rollers, a power roller bearing, an oil passage, and a mesh filter. The input and output disks are supported mutually concentrically with said input shaft and mutually independently rotatably. The plural power rollers are sandwiched between said input disk and said output disks. The power roller bearing rotatably supports said power rollers. The oil passage for leading lubricating oil to said power roller bearing. The mesh filter is provided in said oil passage. Accordingly, the toroidal-type continuously variable transmission can prevent an occurrence of biting-in of foreign substances at a power roller bearing, to thereby increase the life of the power roller bearing.
