    Abstract: An arm insertion type sphygmomanometer having enhanced operability and visibility at the time of measurement. A remote control unit can be detached from the sphygmomanometer body portion and operated wirelessly. The arm insertion type sphygmomanometer comprises a sphygmomanometer body portion (10) provided with an arm band (2) through which an upper arm is inserted, and a remote control unit (40) capable of controlling the sphygmomanometer body portion (10) remotely. The remote control unit (40) can be fixed removably to a holding portion (5) of the sphygmomanometer body portion (10) and has an operating portion for operating the sphygmomanometer body portion (10), and a display portion for displaying the result of measurement. In a state where the remote control unit (40) is placed in the holding portion (5), the remote control unit (40) operates the sphygmomanometer body (10) by performing wired or wireless communication therewith.
