  • Publication number: 20060265135
Abstract: With the use of a bio-information analyzer, a total contribution showing a relationship between a gene expression regulatory sequence and a biological phenomenon is calculated. This total contribution is calculated based on contributions of a gene expression regulatory sequence to a plurality of gene candidates and contributions of the plurality of gene candidates to a biological phenomenon. By performing calculation of the total contribution for a number of gene expression regulatory sequence candidates, a profile of relationships between the respective gene expression regulatory sequence candidates and biological phenomena can be created. By using the created profile of data, a biological phenomenon-specific gene expression regulatory sequence can be predicted from new and known gene expression regulatory sequences and gene expression regulatory sequence candidates. This enables the search for various gene expression regulatory sequences in a wide variety of living organisms including higher eukaryotes.

  • Patent number: 7117255
Abstract: A server capable of eliminating the inconvenience which is caused when a request is made after a “back” operation on a client's browser. A request from a client is received, and processed in compliance with the received request. Confirmation information for confirming a display status of the client side is affixed to a result of process, stored, and transmitted. When a request is made again from the client, the confirmation information included in the request is extracted, and it is determined whether the extracted confirmation information extracted coincides with the stored confirmation information. A process performed in compliance with the request is withheld if it is determined that the two sets of confirmation information do not coincide.

  • Publication number: 20060127121
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus 1 capable of reserving a plurality of printing jobs, the suspended state retention time for retaining the suspended state is preset by the operation of an operation section 142. When a printing job during output operation has been suspended, a timing section 17 starts to measure the preset suspended state retention time. If the printing job having been suspended is not resumed even after the lapse of the suspended state retention time and there is a subsequent printable job, the order of the printing jobs is changed and the subsequent printing job is executed.

  • Publication number: 20060078883
Abstract: An apparatus 11 for estimating internal biological time of a biological individual on the basis of quantity data of a gene product as measured in a specimen sampled from the individual. The apparatus includes circadian oscillatory gene selection means for selecting circadian oscillatory genes whose time-course change in gene product quantity data as measured in standard specimens approximates a cosine curve having a predetermined period; circadian expression curve selection means for selecting, from among a plurality of cosine curves having different phases and sharing a specific period, a circadian expression curve which is similar to the pattern of time-course change in the expression product quantity of each of the above-selected circadian oscillatory genes; and registration means for registering information which identifies the selected circadian expression curve.

  • Patent number: 6973500
Abstract: A data processing system which allows a client to request or release multiple computing resources with a single action. A grouping unit defines groups of resources, and those groups are maintained by a group manager. When a request is received from a client demanding a specific group of resources, a detection unit finds such a member resource of the requested group that is currently used by any other client. If the detection unit has found a member resource in use, then a determination unit determines whether the detected member resource is to be modified. A permission unit permits the requesting client to make access to the requested group of resources if the detection unit finds that none of the member resources of the requested group are being used by any other client, or if the determination unit finds that neither the current user nor the requesting client intends to modify the detected member resource in use.

  • Patent number: 6920489
Abstract: In a server which receives a request of processing from a client, and returns a processing result of the request to the client, a result storing unit stores at least one processing result of at least one request. When a determination unit determines that no other request which is identical to a request received from a client has been processed, an execution unit executes processing of the request received from the client, and stores a result of the processing in the result storing unit. When the determination unit determines that another request which is identical to a request received from a client has already been processed, a transmission unit transmits to the client one of the at least one processing result corresponding to the request received from the client.
