  • Publication number: 20110064427
Abstract: When a sheet processing device is in operation, if any of a paper jam, a motor error, and an open door occur, a sheet-processing-device control unit stops all the loads of the sheet processing device other than the entrance motor. After that, the sheet-processing-device control unit determines whether an entrance sensor detects a sheet remaining in a sheet discharging path. If no sheet is detected, the entrance motor stops in the same manner as the other loads stop. If the entrance sensor detects a sheet, the entrance motor continues driving. When the number of steps of the entrance motor that continues driving increases to a number equal to or more than a predetermined number that corresponds to a sheet position that is accessible by a user from a discharge tray, the entrance motor stops.

  • Patent number: 7529419
Abstract: In an image processing device, image data is divided into a plurality of band data including first and second band data. The first band data and the second band data have an overlap region, from which the first and second regions are extracted, respectively. The first region and the second region at least partially overlap with each other in the overlap region and have attributes different from each other, and the respective feature amounts are calculated. Based on these feature amounts, an attribute to be used for correction is decided. Then, an attribute different from the decided attribute between the attribute of the first region and the attribute of the second region is changed to the decided attribute.

  • Patent number: 7397960
Abstract: A personal computer is operable to sectionalize a document image to form a plurality of image areas each having an attribute associated with a compression mode. Then, it is determined whether the image areas overlap with one another to form an overlap area. When the overlap area is formed, the overlap area is separated from the engaged image areas. If one of the engaged image areas is included within the remaining image areas, an attribute for the overlap area is set up according to the inclusive relationship of the engaged image areas. If there is not such an inclusive relationship, the attribute in the overlap area is set up according to the occupancy rate of the overlap area to each of the engaged image areas, and weighting coefficients of the respective attributes of the engaged image areas.

  • Patent number: 7251053
Abstract: The sharpness of a digital image is enhanced by an edge enhancement process in which the edge adjustment range is adjusted. The image processing apparatus of the present invention determines the edge enhancement range by calculation using a weighting matrix. Specifically, data of a target pixel and the surrounding pixels are calculated using a weighting matrix selected by a weighting selection means, and the edge enhancement range is determined by comparing this calculated value to a specific threshold value. The data of pixels within the enhancement range are then subjected to the edge enhancement process.
