    Abstract: It is aimed to provide a connector capable of stably holding terminal fittings in a housing. A connector is provided with a housing and terminal fittings to be held in the housing. The housing includes a plurality of holes arranged in a lateral direction, the terminal fittings being arranged inside the holes, an upper wall surface and a lower wall surface constituting upper and lower regions above and below the plurality of holes arranged in the lateral direction on a rear surface of the housing, and interpolar walls partitioning between the holes adjacent in the lateral direction. Rear surfaces of the interpolar walls are located forward of the upper wall surface and the lower wall surface. The housing includes recesses, the rear surfaces of the interpolar walls serving as back surfaces of the recesses.

The first side wall (12) has a supporting hole (12A) and the second side wall (13) has an engaging hole (13A). An engaging projection (14A) projects from the ceiling (14) and into the engaging hole (13A). A leaf spring (20) is cantilevered in the tubular body (10) and includes a base (22), a flexible portion (26) extending rearward from the base (22), a coupling (23) coupling the base (22) to the second side wall (13), and a support (24) projecting from a side of the base (22) opposite the coupling (23) and into the supporting hole (12A). The free end (25) of the flexible portion (26) can contact the ceiling while avoiding the engaging projection (14A) when the flexible portion (26) is deformed toward the ceiling.

The arm plates (41) include shaft holes (43) and start opening deformation while riding on the support shafts (21). The arm plates (41) return when the support shafts (21) fit into the shaft holes (43). Each arm plate (41) includes an inclined receiving surface (45) inclined toward the operating portion (42). An inclined surface (21A) is provided on a projecting end of the support shaft (21) and is configured to come into surface contact with the inclined receiving surface (45) at a ride initial position of the arm plates (41).

The lever (40) has two arm plates (41) coupled by an operating portion (42). Ridge pieces (44) are on facing surfaces of the arm plates (41). Front and rear rails (22A, 22B) extend perpendicular to a pull-out direction of wires to guide the ridge piece (44) laterally. An introducing portion (26) is open on one end of the rear rail (22B) to receive the ridge piece (44) between the rails (22A, 22B) from a position behind the housing (10). An escaping portion enables the ridge piece (44) to rotate from a position between the rails to the position behind the housing (10) as the lever (40) is rotated from the connection position to the initial position.
