  • Patent number: 8648241
Abstract: A manipulator information obtaining unit obtains at least a note name corresponding to a manipulator manipulated. A storage device includes a register configured to store at least possible note names, note names in a history of manipulators manipulated, and key candidates, and a first table configured to store diatonic scale notes for each of the key candidates. A key determination unit compares the note names in a history of manipulators manipulated with the diatonic scale notes for each of the key candidates and determines whether there is a key candidate in which all of the note names in the history of the manipulators coincide with any of the diatonic scale notes of the key candidate, thereby determining a key of a musical composition played by the manipulation of the manipulators, and storing the determined key in the register.

  • Patent number: 8324493
Abstract: In response to depressing operation of a key in a melody key range 102 of a keyboard, CPU 21 decides a pitch of musical-tone data to be produced. Concerning the depressing operation on the melody key range 102, CPU 21 specifies a jins or a predetermined temperament from maqam data or temperament-type data based on depressed keys in an accompaniment key range 101 of the keyboard. Further, CPU 21 specifies a composing tone corresponding to the depressed key in the melody range, and gives a sound source 26 an instruction of generating musical-tone data having a pitch of the composing tone.

  • Patent number: 8314320
Abstract: CPU 21 decides a current melody tone CM relating to a key depressed at a the leading position of a current beat and a previous melody tone PM relating to a key depressed at the leading position of a beat coming directly before the current beat, based on time information, in particular, beat information, controlling progress of automatic accompanying data in operation in a melody sequence progressing in response to manipulation of a keyboard 11. Further, CPU 21 performs a chord name deciding process to decide a current chord name, based on the decided current melody tone, previous melody tone, and a previous chord name PreCH, or a chord name at the previous beat. When deciding a melody tone, CPU 21 decides the current melody tone CM and the previous melody tone PM based on what number the current beat is in a measure.

  • Patent number: 5375501
Abstract: An automatic melody composer composes a melody on a phrase by phrase basis. A phrase database storage stores data of many and various phrases. A generating index database storage stores records of music generating index. Each record describes or indicates appropriate phrases in the phase database and how melody is modified or developed in moving from one musical time unit to another. A decoder selects an index record from the generating index database, retrieves, from the phrase database, phrase components according to the index record, and combines them into a phrase. Thus, the composer quickly provides a natural melody formed with a chain of phrases without requiring complicated data processing.
