  • Patent number: 4384032
Abstract: A fluid transmitting polyolefin foam having a special open-cell cellular structure as compared with the conventional polyolefin foams having all cells closed is disclosed. Such a novel fluid transmitting polyolefin foam is produced by mixing a polyolefin with a polymer other than a polyolefin, said polyolefin and/or said polymer other than a polyolefin having a blowing agent incorporated therein and/or adhered thereto and subjecting the resulting mixture to extrusion moulding. The present fluid transmitting polyolefin foam has a wide variety of uses, for example, as a synthetic leather, synthetic filter cloth, separator of storage battery, synthetic paper, package, etc.

  • Patent number: 4066811
Abstract: There are disclosed films for stretch wrapping which comprise an olefin polymer, preferably a specific ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (referred to as "EVA copolymer" hereinafter) and specific polyalkylene ether polyols and non-ionic surfactants of fatty acid and polyhydric alcohol ester derivatives and which have suitable orientation expressed by heat shrinkage and excellent elastic recovery, by which excellent mechanical strength, wrapping finish, optical characteristics and preservability of the goods, especially fresh foods are attained. Method for producing said films is also disclosed. These films are suitable also for wrapping by automatic wrapping machines.

  • Patent number: 3939237
Abstract: A novel tube or sheet-shaped fluid transmitting porous material containing as a substrate, a polyolefin. Such porous material can be readily produced by subjecting a mixture of a polyolefin, a specific secondary polymer and a decomposition type blowing agent to extrusion moulding. The present porous material has certain unique features in its structure characterized in that there are recurring communications between cell wall openings forming a passage through which a fluid can pass. This porous material has excellent gas and liquid transmitting properties as well as an excellent filtering property and, in addition, is superior in resistance to chemicals and also has mechanical strength. Therefore, the porous material according to this invention is widely applicable in agriculture and industry as well as in the fields of synthetic leather etc.
