  • Patent number: 5799197
Abstract: Data read out from a disk is once written in a memory, and data is read out from memory at a rate lower than the writing rate. In a power saving mode, when data in the memory reaches full capacity, the power to a pickup, an RF amplifier, a decoder/signal processing circuit, a servo circuit, and a driver circuit for driving a spindle motor and a sending motor is turned off, thereby temporarily stopping data reading from the disk. Reading from the disk and writing into the memory resumes when power is restored before the memory is completely read out.

  • Patent number: 5790511
Abstract: An optical pickup unit is formed such that a portion on an upstream side of the air flow has a streamline shape or similar shape to the streamline shape so as to keep the air flow generated with high speed rotations of a disc-shaped recording medium away from a vicinity of an objective lens. According to this arrangement, dust contained in the air flow can be prevented from adhering to the surface of the objective lens. Moreover, the dust will not enter inside the optical pickup unit through a small clearance between a lens holder of the objective lens and a cover for the optical pickup unit.

  • Patent number: 5446911
Abstract: A source program is stored for every line of the source program in a source program memory. Jump commands in the language used in the program are previously stored in a jump command memory for storing jump commands used in the program. The contents of the source program memory are compared with the contents of the jump command memory, the kinds of each commands in the source program are identified, and first and second identification data are produced. The first identification data which are set for each command identifies the kind of each command, and identifies that the execution contents of commands adjacent to each other along the sequence of commands are continuous. The second identification data are set for each jump command and each command to which processing is to be jumped. The first and second identification data are stored in the identification data memory. The process flow of the source program is analyzed based on the contents of the identification data memory in an analyzer.

  • Patent number: 4752840
Abstract: A multitrack magnetic recording and reproducing device of the type, which converts analog signals into digital signals and records and reproduces such converted data by splitting onto a plurality of tracks, comprises heads for both high and low recording densities such that track pitches corresponding to them are at an integral ratio. It includes a reproducing circuit having detecting-decision making means such as multiplexers which, when information recorded by a head for lower recording density is reproduced by corresponding heads for higher recording density, is adapted to determine whether any of the outputs from these heads is incorrect.

  • Patent number: 4719521
Abstract: A PCM recording and reproducing apparatus record digital signals obtained by sampling and quantizing analog signals on a recording medium after adding control words, synchronizing signals, etc. to the digital signals. The PCM recording and reproducing apparatus includes means for setting sampling frequencies, means for controlling the speed of recording the signals on said recording medium so as to comply with the set sampling frequency, means for generating sampling frequency indicating codes, and means for adding the sampling frequency indicating codes to the digital signals. Accordingly, sound signals can be recorded and reproduced at various sampling frequencies by the recording and reproducing apparatus of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 4226425
Abstract: A nonrecorded section detection sensor is mounted on a sensor arm which is rotatable around a shaft, to which a drive mechanism is connected to scan the nonrecorded section detection sensor above a disc. A slit plate is fixed to the shaft to detect the rotation of the shaft, whereby the address of a nonrecorded section provided between two adjacent tracks recorded on the disc is detected. Another slit plate is fixed to a tonearm drive shaft to detect a current address of a pickup cartridge mounted on a tonearm. A control circuit functions to locate the pickup cartridge at a beginning position of a selected track through the use of information related to the addresses of the nonrecorded section and the pickup cartridge.
