  • Patent number: 5040398
Abstract: A rolling roll comprises a metal rolling roll body, a ceramic sleeve into which the roll body is inserted with a gap therebetween, thereby providing a working surface of ceramics at an outer periphery thereof, fasteners provided on the roll body at both sides of the sleeve for pressing the side faces of the sleeve thereby to fix the sleeve to the roll body, and at least one spacer having a larger coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the roll body and inserted between the sleeve and the fastener so that the sleeve is axially pressed by the fastener to fix the sleeve to the roll body.

  • Patent number: 4981761
Abstract: A ceramic and metal bonded composite comprising an intermediate metal plate interposed between a ceramic member and a metal member and brazed thereto, the intermediate metal plates carries on its juncture surface a central square projection having substantial area, pins arranged near the four corners and fins between the corners, the central square projection mechanically and thermally couples the ceramic member and the metal member together with the brazing layer and the pins and fins also mechanically and thermally couple the both members together with the brazing layer, while permitting relative displacement between the both members through their plastic deformation, thereby preventing crack generation in the ceramic member.

  • Patent number: 4891831
Abstract: A method for generating X-rays in an X-ray tube, comprises the steps of: rotating an X-ray target of a rotating anode, the X-ray target having a metal coated layer thereon; applying electron beams emitted from a cathode onto the metal coated layer of the X-ray target; and offsetting thermal deformation of the X-ray target due to the application of the electron beams by deformation of the X-ray target due to centrifugal force, thereby maintaining a position of the X-ray target in a direction of the application of the electron beams, at a room temperature of the X-ray target, thus generating the X-rays.

  • Patent number: 4729010
Abstract: An integrated circuit package in which semiconductor elements mounted on an insulating substrate, ends of lead pieces introduced from the outside and wires that electrically connect them, are accommodated in a cell that is air-tightly defined by the substrate, a cap and a sealing glass. The lead pieces are composed of an alloy having a coefficient of thermal expansion nearly equal to, or smaller than, the coefficient of thermal expansion of the substrate. The alloy is an iron alloy which contains nickel and cobalt, and having a martensite transformation temperture of lower than -55.degree. C.
