Abstract: The invention provides a surfactant comprising at least one trehalose-6-fatty acid ester selected from those represented by the following formula: wherein R represents a saturated or unsaturated acyl group having 8-22 carbon atoms, and may have a hydroxyl group or other substituents, and an emulsion-type cosmetic composition comprising said surfactant and a water-soluble polymer. The surfactant of the invention has excellent surface activity and safety. Also, the emulsion-type cosmetic composition has excellent long-term storage stability and sensory properties, has no irritation to skin, and gives beautiful appearance with fine surface texture. Further, the invention is a liposome having a membrane wall composed of trehalose fatty acid ester. Said liposome has excellent chemical and physical stabilities such as long-term storage stability.

Abstract: A hair dye consisting of an anti-hair antibody immobilized on a high bulky coloring material. The coloring material may be a coloring substance such as an inorganic pigment, water-soluble coloring matter, or water-insoluble coloring matter, or a composite of the coloring substance and a macromolecular carrier. Since it provides a good and strong coloring capability specific to hair, the hair dye of the present invention will neither stain the skin nor cause skin irritation. Further, the touch and feel of the hair will be improved.

Abstract: Hair treatment compositions, hair damage protective agents and hair care products, each contain an active ingredient comprising an antibody which binds to human hair keratins which constitute intermediate-diameter filaments. This antibody can be produced efficiently and in a large quantities from the milk of a bovid animal immunized with said keratins. As this antibody binds to the hair specifically, it is effective in preventing the elution of proteins from the hair, imparting smoothness and flexibility to the hair, and improving the adaptability to combing and luster of the hair.

Abstract: Disclosed is a clear liquid skin cosmetic composition (e.g., a lotion) in which one or more oily substances (such as oil-soluble perfumes, hormones and the like) are solubilized in water with the aid of a solubilizing agent comprising an 18.alpha.-glycyrrhizin (18.alpha.-glycyrrhizic acid sodium salt, potassium salt or ammonium salt) that is a novel compound derived from a conventional glycyrrhizin (i.e., any form of 18.beta.-glycyrrhizin extracted from licorice root) or a glycyrrhizin composition consisting of an 18.alpha.-glycyrrhizin and an 18.beta.-glycyrrhizin. This skin cosmetic composition is not irritative to the skin as contrasted with skin cosmetic compositions prepared by using a synthetic surface-active agent as the solubilizing agent, and is not subject to gelation in a slightly acidic to acidic pH range as contrasted with skin cosmetic compositions prepared by using an 18.beta.-glycyrrhizin alone as the solubilizing agent.

Abstract: Disclosed is a creamy or milky skin cosmetic composition which contains an emulsifying agent comprising an 18.alpha.-glycyrrhizin (18.alpha.-glycyrrhizic acid or its sodium, potassium or ammonium salt) that is a novel compound derived from a conventional glycyrrhizin (i.e., any form of 18.beta.-glycyrrhizin extracted from licorice root) or a glycyrrhizin composition consisting of an 18.alpha.-glycyrrhizin and an 18.beta.-glycyrrhizin. This skin cosmetic composition causes no irritation to the skin and hence has great safety for the skin, as contrasted with skin cosmetic compositions using synthetic emulsifiers. Moreover, it exhibits very good emulsion stability and storage stability and presents a very attractive appearance (fine texture and good gloss) owing to the unique effects of the 18.alpha.-glycyrrhizin. In particular, this skin cosmetic composition is characterized in that the difficulties inherent in the use of an emulsifying agent comprising an 18.beta.-glycyrrhizin alone (i.e.
