    Abstract: The invention relates to a bearing for supporting a moving member having a surface of a first arithmetical mean roughness. This bearing is made of an abrasion-resistant aluminum alloy containing 14.0-17.5 wt% of Si, 2.0-5.0 wt% of Cu, 0.1-1.0 wt% of Mg, 0.3-0.8 wt% of Mn, 0.1-0.3 wt% of Cr, 0.05-0.20 wt% of Ti, 0.003-0.05 wt% of P, not greater than 1.5 wt% of Fe, less than 0.005 wt% of Ca, and aluminum as a remainder. The aluminum alloy contains silicon primary crystals, and first and second intermetallic compounds. Each of the silicon primary crystals and these intermetallic compounds has an average particle diameter from 8 to 30 .mu.m. The silicon primary crystals and the first and second intermetallic compounds respectively have first, second and third fractions each ranging from 5 to 40 .mu.m in particle diameter. The total area of the first, second and third fractions on a two-dimensional section of the alloy is from 5 to 10% by area, based on the total area of the section.

    Abstract: In an automatic transaxle having an idler gear center axis below a line interconnecting a main power train center axis and a differential center axis, a control valve assembly is disposed on one of opposite sides of a transaxle case divided by the idler gear center axis. The differential is disposed on the other of the opposite sides of the transaxle. An oil storing chamber is disposed next to the control valve assembly and free from occupation by same. The oil storing chamber extends from one to the other of the opposite sides of the transaxle case.

    Abstract: An oil passage structure in a transmission casing of an automotive automatic transmission, comprises, at an outer peripheral abutting surface between the transmission casing and the oil pump cover, an opening defined in the transmission casing which is exposed to the abutting surface of the transmission casing and is communicated with the inlet port of the valve assembly provided in the bottom section of the transmission through a single vertical oil channel formed in the transmission casing by machining to provide the shortest distance between the inlet port of the valve assembly and the opening. The oil passage structure also comprises an oil groove which is integrally formed on the abutting surface by die-casting and includes a point connecting the outlet port of the oil pump through an oil passage defined in the oil pump cover, to intercommunicate the opening and the connecting point.

    Abstract: In an automatic transmission, an arrangement for discharging band servo operating hydraulic pressure comprises an upstanding passage and a communication passage formed in a transmission case, and a discharge valve installed in the communication passage. The upstanding passage is so formed as to extend inwardly or upwardly from a control valve body joining surface of the transmission case. The communication passage is so formed as to extend inwardly from an outer peripheral portion of the transmission case adjacent an oil pump cover joining surface thereof to fluidly connect a servo cylinder chamber to the upstanding passage which is in turn fluidly connected to a servo release passage of a control valve assembly. The discharge valve is in the form of a check valve and disposed in the open end of the communication passage which is located at the above described peripheral portion of the transmission case adjacent the oil pump cover joining surface thereof.

    Abstract: An automatic transmission having a reduction shaft disposed in a lower part within a transmission case is equipped with a govenor shaft having a governor shaft gear engaging with a governor drive gear formed in the reduction gear. The governor shaft extends substantially vertically from a lower end to an upper end. The lower end of the governor shaft is rotatably supported by a bottom of a governor case which is integral with the transmission case. The bottom of the governor case is located below a level of a lubricating oil in the transmission case, and formed with an opening for allowing the oil to flow into a clearance between the lower end of the governor shaft and the governor case.

    Abstract: A governor shaft for supporting a governor valve is rotatably supported to a transmission case by a stopper pin. The governor shaft is formed with an annular groove having a rectangular cross section. The stopper pin is inserted through the transmission case, and engaged with the annular groove of the governor shaft for preventing the governor shaft from being extracted and allowing the rotation of the governor shaft. The stopper pin has two cylindrical portions and a middle portion lying between the cylindrical portions. The middle portion is received in the annular groove, and the cylindrical portions are supported by the transmission case. In one embodiment of the present invention, the middle portion has a square cross section, so that the stopper pin tends to be in face contact with the annular groove. The cylindrical portions are arranged to allow the stopper pin to rotate to a limited extent.
