  • Patent number: 5243267
Abstract: A method for controlling a lumbar support device and a motor control device provided, which are applied to a powered seat. The motor for causing fore-and-aft movement of a lumbar plate is controlled under a selected one of burst and fluctuation control modes. In the burst control mode, the lumbar plate is moved periodically in the fore-and-aft direction, whereas in the fluctuation control mode, the lumbar plate is moved in a aperiodic and weavering way in that direction, for example, on the basis of 1/f fluctuation waveform, to thereby alleviate a fatigue of lumbar part of a passenger sitting on the seat.

  • Patent number: 5170106
Abstract: A method of protecting a motor against overload, wherein a voltage of the motor is transformed into a pulse in a manner avoiding influence from the toque of motor, and such pulse having a width is compared with a motor revolution number so as to output an overload detection signal. The overload detection signal in excess of a present value is detected to stop the motor. A motor control device is also provided for that purpose, which includes a chopping wave generator circuit, an operational amplifier and a gate circuit.

  • Patent number: 5136221
Abstract: Method and device for controlling a powered automotive seat of a rotatable type, wherein said seat is caused to move to a neutral position where said seat is free from contact with other adjacent fittings or other occupant, before being subjected to automatic rotation between drive position and climbing/descending position. Further, such automatic rotation of seat is permitted only when a door detector detects the door to be opened at an opening angle larger than a predetermined angle.

  • Patent number: 5097185
Abstract: A method and device for controlling a motor in a powered seat, wherein, in an automatic control mode, a rated voltage is applied to the motor, thereby causing a constant high rotation of the motor, and in a manual control mode, firstly the rated voltage is applied to the motor and secondly after a given time, the voltage is changed into a low voltage, causing the motor to be driven at a low rotation rate. Thus, the movable parts of seating posture adjustment device in the seat are moved rapidly in the automatic mode, while in the manual mode, they are firstly moved rapidly and then slowly for permitting an accurate adjustment of position thereof.

  • Patent number: 5065079
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a lumbar support device provided in the seat back of an automotive seat. The control for support against the lumbar of an occupant on the seat is effected through manual and automatic control modes, and the automatic control mode emits alternating pulses for causing repeated alternating series of normal and reverse drives of a motor, to thereby move a lumbar support plate reciprocally forwards and backwards, offering a massage effect to the occupant's lumbar part.

  • Patent number: 5004967
Abstract: Method and device for controlling a slide motion of a vehicle seat, wherein when the seat is moved from a seating position to a backward position, the rotation number of a motor causing such movement is counted up from zero and memorized by a counter, so that the seat is returnable to the seating position precisely in accordance as the counter counts down that memorized rotation number to zero. This control is effected by switch means electrically arranged with the motor via electric circuits, and the counter is reset to zero every time of initial operation of the switch means, thus allowing free setting by different occupant of the seat positions without need for hitherto inputting works inherent in computer control.
