Publication number: 20080018291Abstract: A change in torque produced by a motor having two rotors is reduced when the motor operates in a low-velocity and low-torque operational state. The motor has a first rotor and a second rotor, each of which has a permanent magnet, and an output shaft capable of rotating integrally with the first rotor. The second rotor can relatively rotate with respect to the first rotor by a driving force from a phase difference changing driving device, and the phase difference between the rotors (rotor phase difference) can be changed by the relative rotation of the second rotor with respect to the first rotor. When the values of the torque and the rotational velocity of the motor lie within a predetermined region in the proximity of 0, the phase difference changing driving device adjusts the rotor phase difference to a predetermined phase difference for which the strength of a composite field of the permanent magnets is lower than a maximum strength.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2007Publication date: January 24, 2008Inventors: Hirofumi Atarashi, Hiromitsu Sato, Masanari Fukuchi, Masaaki Kaizuka

Patent number: 7289645Abstract: A hand pattern switch device recognizes a hand pattern from an image of a hand in an image pickup zone and detects a hand motion. One of controlled objects is selected based on the recognized hand pattern and/or hand motion. In accordance with the selected object, a mode of detection of operation information based on hand motion is changed. In a moved distance detecting mode, a moved distance of the hand in the zone is detected as operation information, and in a stop time detecting mode, a stop time of the hand at a stop position to which the hand has been moved in the zone is detected as operation information. The image pickup zone is at a location which is located laterally to a steering wheel and to which a driver can extend his/her arm without changing a driving posture.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2003Date of Patent: October 30, 2007Assignees: Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, Keio UniversityInventors: Keiichi Yamamoto, Hiromitsu Sato, Hideo Saito, Shinji Ozawa, Hiroya Igarashi

Publication number: 20050063564Abstract: A hand pattern switch device capable of easily and reliably detecting a hand pattern or a palm motion of an operator. From a picked-up image of a distal arm, an axis passing through the centroid of a hand is determined as a central axis passing through the center of arm. At least either first scanning lines perpendicular to the central axis or second scanning lines extending along the central axis are set between a fingertip and a palm center. While changing the scanning line to be examined from the fingertip side toward the palm center, a determination is made to determine how many number of scanning lines for each of which a finger width equal to or larger than a predetermined width is detected are present, thereby making a detection of whether or not the finger is extended from the palm.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2004Publication date: March 24, 2005Inventors: Keiichi Yamamoto, Hiromitsu Sato, Shinji Ozawa, Hideo Saito, Hiroya Igarashi
