    Abstract: In a headlamp assembly, a reflector unit includes a bearing surface for supporting a lighting control circuit. The lighting control circuit is mounted to the backside of the reflector unit across a holder, and directly connected to a discharge bulb. The reflector unit further includes a mounting portion to which a lampshade unit is mounted. In the reflector unit, the backside of the mounting portion is offset from the bearing surface in both of the axial direction and the radial direction. That is, the lampshade unit and the holder are fixed to the reflector unit so as to be distanced from each other. Thus the holder is thermally disconnected from the lampshade unit, and thereby the heat transfer from the lampshade unit to the lighting control circuit is reduced.

    Abstract: In a discharge lamp apparatus, a casing of an electronic controller unit for a discharge lamp is comprised of a resin casing and a metal casing and accommodates therein circuit components for generating a voltage supplied to the discharge lamp. The resin casing couples with and contacts with the connector part of the discharge lamp. A power MOS transistor is attached to the metal casing through a plate member made of an insulating material. With this arrangement, heat generated by the discharge lamp is less likely to transfer from the resin casing to the metal casing, and heat generated by the power MOS transistor is efficiently radiated from the metal casing to the outside.

A secondary winding of the second transformer of the starting circuit is connected between the lamp and the inverter circuit connected to the lamp. An electrode member is interposed between the second transformer and the metal case.

    Abstract: There is provided an electric discharge lamp device from which a high voltage wire and a high voltage connector are removed and a temperature rise in the circuit means can be prevented by a simple structure. The circuit means 40 includes a circuit to impress a high voltage upon the electric discharge lamp 30. A battery voltage is impressed upon the circuit means 40 via the electric power source cord 50.
