    Abstract: A compound induction system for an internal combustion engine embodying at least two intake passages serving each combustion chamber. A throttle valve arrangement is incorporated for controlling the flow through one of the intake passages and this throttle valve is opened in a staged sequence so that that induction passage will not act as a side branch resonant chamber under any experienced running conditions.
