  • Publication number: 20200241343
Abstract: An absorption axis of the second polarizing plate provided on a counter substrate is parallel to an alignment axis of the liquid crystal molecules of a liquid crystal layer, the biaxial retardation film is arranged such that a slow axis of the biaxial retardation film forms a first angle formed counterclockwise with the absorption axis or formed clockwise with the alignment axis in a plane of the liquid crystal panel, and a transmission axis of a first polarizing plate provided on an array substrate is arranged such that the transmission axis of the first polarizing plate forms a second angle larger than the first angle from the absorption axis or the alignment axis in the same direction as the first angle in the plane of the liquid crystal panel.

  • Patent number: 9804437
Abstract: A polarizing plate has a corner portion subjected to chamfering so as to form a chamfered portion. A rotation angle of the polarizing plate is adjusted, and the polarizing plate is then bonded to a liquid crystal panel. Chamfering of the polarizing plate is, for example, C chamfering in which a chamfered shape is linear, the chamfered shape satisfying a specific expression and having a predetermined angle ?. The chamfering may be R chamfering in which a chamfered shape is curved.

  • Patent number: 9759946
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device of a horizontal electric field type includes: a first electrode and a second electrode formed on a liquid-crystal-side surface of the first transparent substrate, and two polarization plates respectively adhered such that respective transmission axes thereof are orthogonal to each other, wherein the liquid crystal material is rotated by an electric field generated between the first electrode and the second electrode. With respect to the transmission axis located in an extending direction between the first electrode and the second electrode, an initial orientation direction of the liquid crystal material is within a range between a direction rotated by 0.5-degree in an opposite response direction of the liquid crystal material and a direction orthogonal to an electric field direction generated between the first electrode and the second electrode.
