Publication number: 20150069361Abstract: A substrate on which a plurality of pixel electrodes are disposed is prepared. An organic electroluminescent film 22 is formed with the inclusion of a common layer that continuously covers the plural pixel electrodes. A common electrode is formed on the organic electroluminescent film. The common layer is irradiated with an energy ray above areas between the respective adjacent pixel electrodes with the avoidance of irradiation above the plural pixel electrodes. An electric conductivity of the common layer is reduced above the areas between the respective adjacent pixel electrodes, by irradiation of the energy ray. With this configuration, a current leakage can be prevented between the adjacent pixels.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2014Publication date: March 12, 2015Inventors: Toshihiro SATO, Hironori TOYODA, Takeshi OOKAWARA

Publication number: 20150054815Abstract: The adjustment of a color temperature is made possible in a display panel using a white light-emitting OLED. The white light-emitting OLED includes a light-emitting layer containing light-emitting materials of respective colors of R, G, and B. By changing the current density of a drive current to be supplied to the white light-emitting OLED, light emission of the OLED is adjusted to a color temperature in response to an instruction from a user. A period PD in which the OLED emits light is changed in inverse proportion to a change in drive current so as to maintain emission luminance in one frame for the emission intensity of the OLED changing in response to the drive current.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2014Publication date: February 26, 2015Inventors: Hironori TOYODA, Toshihiro SATO

Patent number: 8237353Abstract: In a top emission type organic EL display device, brightness gradient in a screen is reduced while keeping a screen brightness. A reflection film is formed under a lower electrode and the light from an organic EL layer is emitted through an upper electrode. Light absorption of the upper electrode is larger on the side of a shorter wavelength. When a film thickness of the upper electrode is enlarged in order to reduce the brightness gradient in a screen, the film thicknesses of the upper electrodes for a red pixel and a green pixel are enlarged without enlarging the film thickness of the upper electrode for a blue pixel. This makes it possible to reduce the brightness gradient as well as to suppress the light absorption of the upper electrode.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2009Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignees: Hitachi Displays, Ltd., Panasonic Liquid Crystal Display Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hironori Toyoda, Masahiro Tanaka, Masaaki Okunaka, Masakazu Gunji
