A melting and holding furnace 101 with a tilting mechanism has a melting and holding furnace section 101 and an electrical lifter 113 for holding the melting and holding furnace section 101 horizontally and for tilting the melting and holding furnace 101 together with a molten metal supplying apparatus 102 upwardly about the melting chamber 104 serving as a tilting fulcrum C to hold the same in the tilted position.
