  • Patent number: 4392738
Abstract: An image transfer device in an image forming apparatus is generally constructed with a recording element as an intermediate recording medium to hold thereon an image to be transferred onto an image transfer material. An image transfer device transfers the image from the recording element to the image transfer material and a guiding device guides the image transfer material which is capable of setting a position from the recording element in accordance with a kind of the image transfer material used. An image transfer material conveying device conveys the image transfer material through the recording element and the image transfer device and driving device displaces the guiding device in the direction away from the recording element at the time of non-operation of the image transfer material conveying device.

  • Patent number: 4377333
Abstract: There is provided a recording apparatus including a holder member upon which an image is formed by scanning a modulated beam, a transfer device for transferring the formed image to a continuous transfer material, a transfer material transporting device for loading the continuous transfer paper and a feeding device for feeding the transfer material. The transfer material transporting device includes a set of members which open to accommodate the transfer material, a holder for retaining the transfer material, an endless rotary member which moves the holder through the open members and a control for controlling the opening and closing of the members. The feeding device includes an index and a transporting mechanism for moving the continuous transfer material a distance corresponding to the distance between the index and transfer device. The feeding device also includes another transport mechanism, both transport mechanisms beginning and stopping at different times.

  • Patent number: 4265198
Abstract: Apparatus for fixing toner images carried on a long footage of continuous web such as rolled paper or folded paper, uniformly but intermittently from end to end of the web. The apparatus includes a heating roller and a second roller and control circuitry. During fixation, the image bearing surface of the web is urged against the heated roller which is rotated to move the web, and during the intermission of fixation, the web is disengaged from the heating roller. Preferably, when the web is urged against the heating roller and/or when the web is disengaged from the heating roller, rotation thereof is stopped and the web is maintained in pressure contact with the stopped heating roller for a predetermined time.

  • Patent number: 4110027
Abstract: This specification discloses an improvement in a mechanism for transferring the image on an image-bearing member onto a continuous transfer medium by bringing said transfer medium into contact with the image on the image-bearing member. The mechanism of the prior art has been provided with tractors disposed upstream and beyond the image transfer section for conveying the continuous transfer medium. However, the drive timing between these two tractors have been extremely difficult to provide and the drive control mechanism has been very complex. In addition, a control system for the starting of image transfer has been required and these control systems have been very cumbersome. The invention simplifies the image transfer mechanism by using a conveyor capable of conveying the transfer medium by slidably holding the same, and ensures stable conveyance of the transfer medium.
