  • Patent number: 9522709
Abstract: In a windshield device of a saddle-ride type vehicle, a guide rail is fixed to a vehicle front portion; a moving assembly is movably provided on the guide rail; and a windscreen is supported on the moving assembly. The moving assembly includes a slide member movably attached to the guide rail, a screen supporting member configured to support the windscreen, and a link mechanism arranged between the slide member and the screen supporting member. The link mechanism is configured to increase a movement amount of the screen supporting member to an amount greater than a sliding length of the slide member. Such configuration of the windshield device for the saddle-ride type vehicle reduces the size of a moving mechanism including a moving assembly for the windscreen.

  • Patent number: 6543831
Abstract: A windshield mounting structure for vehicles in which a windshield as a sheet for protection from the wind is mounted between a vehicle body frame and a cowling attached at the front of the vehicle body frame. The cowling is attached to a retaining plate, which is rockably mounted on the vehicle body frame and positioned opposite to the front of the windshield. A operating lever is provided for pressing the retaining plate against the windshield to hold the windshield in a fixed position, and for releasing the retaining plate from the windshield so that the windshield height can be adjusted up or down. A ratchet mechanism is provided for supporting the windshield when it is released, and for adjusting the windshield to a desired position. This combination of elements and configuration provides for a structure that increases the freedom of design of the exterior components of the vehicle, particularly the cowling.

  • Patent number: 5609658
Abstract: An air intake duct is formed on an upper case of an air cleaner. The bottom surface of the air intake duct is also an upper surface of the upper case. An opening portion of the air intake duct is opened rearwardly of the vehicle, and a recessed portion is formed on the upper surface of the upper case at a portion in front of the opening portion of the air intake duct relative to the air flow direction in the air intake duct. As a result, the bottom surface of the opening portion is formed higher than the surface of the recessed portion. The bottom surface of the air intake duct is formed to be gradually upwardly inclined in the direction of the air flow in the air intake duct traveling from the opening portion of the air intake duct to an opening portion formed on the upper surface of the upper case.

  • Patent number: 5174172
Abstract: A gear shifting system for an automotive vehicle equipped with an internal combustion engine comprises a load sensor for sensing the shift load generated by a shifting motion of a driver or a rider, a power adjusting system for adjusting the engine power of the internal combustion engine, and a control unit for controlling the power adjusting system. The control unit is actuated in response to a signal from the load sensor when the sensed load is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, and outputs a control signal to the power adjusting system so as to adjust the engine power. The load sensor is assembled on a linkage system connected between a shift shaft of the power transmission and the shift pedal, so that the load sensor can detect a stretching load or a depressing load caused by shifting operation in the shift-up or shift-down mode, and for differentiating between them.

  • Patent number: 4722412
Abstract: A motorcycle including a pair of right and left main frame members, an engine being disposed at a lower part of the main frame members, a fuel tank being disposed at an upper part thereof, whereby the motorcycle is provided with a partition wall disposed between the main frame members and the engine. The upper part of this partition wall forms an air passage extending forward from backward of a vehicle body. At a rear portion of this air passage, a carburetor is exposed after penetrating the partition wall. The front end portion of the partition wall forms an air guiding portion extending to the front part of a radiator after riding over the radiator. The carburetor is effectively cooled by travelling air guided by the air passage via the air guiding portion. The partition wall also serves to prevent transmission of radiation of engine to the upper portion of the vehicle body.
