  • Publication number: 20080006226
Abstract: A secondary heat exchanger B for recovering latent heat from combustion gas includes water tubes 5 each of which is so inclined that a first end 50a is positioned lower than a second end 50b. Therefore, in draining water from each of the water tubes 5, water can be caused to flow smoothly into a water-inflow and hot-water-outflow header 6A connected to the first ends 50a. The secondary heat exchanger B includes a casing 7 which includes an upper wall 70a and a bottom wall 70b which are so inclined that the inner surfaces thereof extend generally in parallel with the water tubes 5, and the upper and the lower gaps 79a and 79b have constant widths s2 and s3. Therefore, the amount of heat recovery from the combustion gas passing through the gaps 79a and 79b can be increased.

  • Patent number: 6382910
Abstract: An adiabatic expansion apparatus 22 with a built-in turbine impeller 12 adiabatically expands gas at a cryogenic temperature when the impeller rotates. A control device 24 is connected coaxially with the turbine impeller to control the impeller. A variable nozzle mechanism 30 is provided for varying the throat area for the gas at a cryogenic temperature to be introduced into the turbine impeller. The adiabatic expansion apparatus is installed in a vacuum vessel 14, and a control device is disposed outside the vacuum vessel. The variable nozzle mechanism comprises a nozzle component 32 built into the adiabatic expansion apparatus, and a driving component 34 installed outside the vacuum vessel. The nozzle component and the driving component are connected to the turbine impeller with a coaxial, thin cylindrical component 36, and drive the nozzle component when the cylindrical component rotates about the axis Z of the turbine impeller.

  • Patent number: 6251258
Abstract: In an electrolytic bath, an extraction part extracts heavy metal in the internal organs of scallops into an acid solution. A direct current voltage is applied between electrodes, which are provided in the acid solution, to deposit the heavy metal in the acid solution on the electrodes. If the deposit efficiency deteriorates, the polarity applied between the electrodes is reversed from the polarity in the deposition of the heavy metal in a neutral or alkali electrolytic solution. Consequently, the heavy metal is removed from the electrodes. Since arsenic is dissolved in the acid solution, an alkali liquid and a flocculant are added to the acid solution to sediment arsenic.

  • Patent number: 5531322
Abstract: A storage case for flat, uniformly shaped quadrilateral objects such as floppy disks includes a rectangular box like lid and base portions hinged to both sides of a central spine portion. Inside each of the base and lid portions two pair of ribs are provided for firmly gripping a floppy disk, or the like, inserted therein. The ribs may include a pressure applying first rib opposed to a top gripping second rib for added security. A central spine of the case includes additional ribs for grippingly engaging a third floppy disk which may thus be held separately from the disks inserted in the base and lid such that three disks may be securely held without rattling. The edges of the case are provided with three closing members corresponding to three engaging members to assure secure closure and, in addition, mating edges of the side wall portions may be formed at compatible angles which interlock in a closed condition of the case preventing plastic deformation thereof when the case is carried.

  • Patent number: 4913525
Abstract: Disclosed is a frequency stabilized light source including a semiconductor laser chip and a finite Fourier diffraction grating with a corrugated profile with a continuous first order differential coefficient. The laser chip emits the output light from its one facet into the diffraction grating with the diffracted light from the grating being fed back to the laser chip, so that the laser chip emits the output light with a stable wavelength from its another facet. The arrangement produces the output light with high frequency purity and high adjustment accuracy and yet wide frequency tunable range.

  • Patent number: 4878976
Abstract: A method is provided for continuously manufacturing a synthetic resin tube. A plurality of pre-molded flat strips of synthetic resin material is passed through a heating zone to soften the strips. Then, the strips thus softened composed of a first strip for forming an outermost tube wall, a second strip for forming an innermost tube wall and at least one intermediate strip for forming an intermediate tube wall sandwiched between the first and second strips are fed to a mandrel comprising a plurality of rotating rollers arranged in a circular array and rotatably journalled in an end plate. The strips fed to the mandrel are wrapped around and advanced axially along the length of the mandrel with portions of adjacent turns of the intermediate strip not overlapping each other. The strips thus wrapped around the mandrel is then pressed by a pressure roller so as to be joined and welded to form a tube.
