  • Publication number: 20030179718
Abstract: A control packet is broadcast over a route, containing first and second metric values of different transmission characteristics of the route. At a local node, control packets from multiple nodes are received and examined for their source. If the packets are received from upstream nodes, the metrics of the received packets are updated, the second metric is weighted and summed with the first metric to produce a number of combined metrics and a minimum value of the combined metrics is detected. One of the routes having the detected value is selected as a route to an upstream node. If the control packets are received from downstream nodes, the second metric is weighted and summed with the first metric to produce a number of combined metrics and a smaller values of combined metrics are detected corresponding in number to usable antennas and routes of the detected values are selected.

  • Publication number: 20030064733
Abstract: To provide a terminal location estimation method capable of accurately estimating a location of a mobile terminal when providing information services according to the location of the terminal in a radio communication system. A positioning server sends a location measurement probe message to the mobile terminal in order to measure the location of the terminal. Each of base stations receives a response message broadcasted from the terminal, measures the reception level and delay spread and sends the measurement results to the positioning server. The positioning server has a radio wave propagation estimating portion and a database for storing estimation results thereof. The server estimates the location of the terminal by checking the measurement results of the base stations against the estimation results on radio wave propagation stored in the database.

  • Patent number: 6539226
Abstract: In soft hand over in a code division multi access mobile radio communication system, interference in a down link caused by transmission from a plurality of base stations for one mobile station, can be restricted. Control of transmission power is performed according to command from the mobile station only in the base station serving as a primary base station which has minimum propagation loss with the mobile station during soft hand over, and the base stations other than the primary base station perform transmission with restricting output. In comparison with the transmission power control performed by the conventional plural base station transmission, interference for the peripheral mobile station can be reduced to achieve higher down link capacity.

  • Patent number: 6486857
Abstract: There is disclosed a phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit for use in an improved deflection correction circuit for a larger and flat display device. The PLL circuit has a phase comparator circuit, a filter, and a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) connected in series in this order. The output signal from the VCO is fed back to the phase comparator circuit. The PLL circuit further includes a period-detecting circuit for detecting the period of an externally applied signal and a frequency divider circuit. This frequency divider circuit divides the frequency of the output signal from the VCO according to the period detected by the period-detecting circuit and feeds the resulting signal back to the VCO.

  • Publication number: 20020173310
Abstract: The invention provides a method of selecting a base station according to which optimal quality can be achieved in the communication between a mobile station and a communication destination by efficiently using resources of the entire wireless network, as well as a mobile station and a base station. The base station selection method selects one from a plurality of base stations connected to the relay server, for a connection with the mobile station. In the method, each base station retains abase station routing cost which is a cost for the path connecting the base station to the communication network. And the mobile station measures a toward-base station routing cost for the path between itself and each base station, calculates a total routing cost for each base station by adding the base station routing cost and the toward-base station routing cost, and selects a base station associated with a minimal total routing cost when establishing a relay connection with the communication network.

  • Publication number: 20020137459
Abstract: In a multi-hop wireless communication network where network nodes are interconnected by a common wireless resource, a source node formulates a message containing first and second address fields and a data payload field. • Publication number: 20020107663
Abstract: An object of the present invention provides a method of predicting radio wave propagation characteristics that can implement a ray launching technique at higher speed. A plurality of Central Processing Units (CPUs) are interconnected via a network, and a recording device that can be read or written from all the CPUs is installed, and plural rays radiated from a predetermined transmitting point are divided into a plurality of groups, each group being assigned to a different CPU, whereby the CPUs perform a ray launching processing for the assigned rays independently and simultaneously to predict the radio wave propagation characteristics. The plural rays radiated from the transmitting point are divided and assigned to the CPUs, and the ray launching processing is performed simultaneously, resulting in a shorter computation time.

  • Publication number: 20020094809
Abstract: To shorten a required estimation time while keeping an estimation precision in an object environment given for estimating propagation characteristics with a ray launching method. In the case where a ray is propagated within a given observation area, and collides with a barrier residing on its path, a space in the vicinity of the ray is divided into a plurality of partial spaces until a predetermined condition is satisfied. The space in the vicinity of the ray that is considered to cause a degradation in the estimation precision is divided in reflection until there is less influence of degradation, whereby each of the subdivided partial spaces can be handled individually, so that the estimation precision of radio wave propagation characteristics can be made better than a conventional method.

  • Patent number: 6418320
Abstract: In a method of controlling transmission power in a mobile station which switches a plurality of base stations from one to another with a hand-off time interposed on switching, an increase of the transmission power is suppressed with reference to reception levels of pilot signals sent from the plurality of the base stations which are divided into a first group of base stations under connection and a second group of base stations under non-connection. Specifically, the transmission power is slowly or gradually increased or kept constant when the reception level of the pilot signal sent from the second group base station exceeds that of the pilot signal sent from the first group base station.

  • Publication number: 20020080736
Abstract: To provide a data transmission method and an apparatus thereof in a relay transmission type radio network capable of selecting an appropriate down-link relay route according to a location of a terminal station. A first relay node having received an up-link ACK packet transmitted by the terminal station transmits to an second relay node the up-link ACK packet including a source terminal station ID and a relay source node ID representing its own node ID. The second relay node having received the up-link ACK packet registers information on a pair of the source terminal station ID and the relay source node ID with a relay node list, and selects an appropriate route of a down-link packet addressed to the terminal station by using the information registered with the relay node list.

  • Publication number: 20020039898
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a method for detecting a shield in predicting the radio wave propagation characteristics by a technique of the geometrical optics capable of detecting a content which a ray strikes, at high rate, when the ray is radiated within the observation space. In the case where the rays and the contents are given, the projected objects given by the line or plane are set up, and if an image of the content projected onto the projected object and an image of the ray projected onto the projected object do not intersect, the content is excluded from the shield detection object. A plurality of projected objects i (i=1 to M) are prepared, the selection of shield detection object is performed for each projected object i in order for i=1 to M, and the content of the shield detection object is concluded in sequence.
