  • Patent number: 6033535
Abstract: The present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing the PCE optical information recording disk under control of not only the crystallization velocity but also the complex index of refraction and thus the reflectance on the disk surface. The PCE optical information recording disk is suitable to be used under the constant angular velocity (the constant rotational numbers wherein the disk has a characteristic that the crystallization velocity is designed to become faster from inside area of the disk to outside area in the radical direction thereof under control of not only the crystallization velocity but also the complex index of refraction and thus the reflectance on the disk surface.

  • Patent number: 6016490
Abstract: A database management system for preventing deadlocks from occurring during control while securing execution rights and securing locks, for efficiently operating the application program in a multi-thread environment, and also for limiting the amount of time wasted in standby during synchronous processing for maintenance of execution rights. In this system, once the execution rights to the threads corresponding to a cache resource have been secured, a lock is secured on a transaction operated on a thread secured by an exclusive controller for a resource of a database corresponding to a resource in the cache resource. When a lock cannot be secured for a particular transaction, the exclusive controller informs the synchronization processor of a lock failure the previously secured execution right is automatically discarded so that execution rights to other threads in standby can be secured. In this way deadlocks regarding to control of thread operation are prevented from occurring.

  • Patent number: 5963937
Abstract: A database apparatus to realize faster processing for data including a plurality of elements such as objects by conducting the loading and storing process accompanying format conversion only on necessary elements. Objects in storage format in the secondary memory apparatus are written as computable format onto the cache for processing by the application program. In addition, objects in computable format in the cache are written out as storage format on the secondary memory apparatus. A first determination device determines whether invalid or valid elements are contained in at least a portion of the object held in the cache based on status information that is held in the cache.

  • Patent number: 5893097
Abstract: A database management system is provided to reduce the process time required for data sharing between the server process and the client process. When the client process sends the data reading command to the server process, the server process reads the page specified by the command from the database file, writes the page in the sharing memory device that includes the mapped file and the page buffer and sends the offset that specifies the page within the region in the mapped file to the client process. The client process maps the logic address of the access space in its process to the region specified by the offset to enable accessing of the page written in the page buffer.

  • Patent number: 5865961
Abstract: A magnetron sputtering apparatus has a plurality of ring-shaped flat targets with different diameters disposed about one center axis. The apparatus includes magnets having the same polarity as each other and placed on both front surface side and rear surface side of each of the targets along an inner circumferential edge thereof, and magnets having the same polarity as each other and placed on both front surface side and rear surface side of each of the targets along an outer circumferential edge thereof. The magnets placed along the inner and outer circumferential edges are placed in such a way that the magnets along the inner circumferential edge and the magnets along the outer circumferential edge become opposite in polarity to each other.

  • Patent number: 5829022
Abstract: To reduce process time by simplifying the cache status and to improve the execution efficiency of the application program in the separate region conversion system that is capable of maintaining the hit rate of the cache at high level. When an access request is made to the object and if the object is not stored in the object cache, the page containing the object is read from the database and is stored in the page cache, and the object is read from the page and stored in the cache. The status of the page cache describing the status of the page stored in the page cache is stored in the page status storage device and at the same time the status of the object cache describing the status of the object stored in the object cache is stored in the object status storage device.

  • Patent number: 5713023
Abstract: Each of clusters manages records. A plurality of record operation processing units execute operations on the records. When a particular one of the clusters receives a record operating command, a record operating mechanism selection unit selects, based on a record operating mechanism selecting command, one of the record operation processing units to which the record operating command should be supplied from the particular cluster.

  • Patent number: 5558749
Abstract: A magnetron sputtering apparatus has a ring-shaped flat target and includes magnets of the same polarity respectively arranged at a front side and a rear side of the target extending along an inner peripheral edge of the target, and magnets of the same polarity respectively arranged at the front side and the rear side of the target extending along an outer peripheral edge of the target. The magnets extending along the inner peripheral edge of the target are inverted in polarity relative to the other magnets extending along the outer peripheral edge of the target.
