  • Patent number: 5439443
Abstract: A balloon catheter having a balloon part composed of a film which is formed from a polymer having a number average molecular weight of at least 50,000, and has an initial modulus at 100% of at least 95 kg/cm.sup.2 is provided. The balloon part is far excellent in preventive effect against its destruction is provided. The balloon catheter is suitable for use as a balloon catheter for intraaortic balloon pumping because the balloon part is prevented from being worn due to the rubbing of the balloon part against a calcified deposit on a blood vessel upon its practical operation.

  • Patent number: 5286783
Abstract: A copolymer latex obtained by emulsion-polymerization of 45 to 85% by weight of a conjugated diene monomer, 0.1 to 25% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated acid monomer, 10 to 45% by weight of a vinyl-pyridine monomer and 0 to 30% by weight of another monomer copolymerizable with these monomers. The surface of the latex particles contains the carboxy groups in an amount of at least 0.01 milliequivalent per gram of the copolymer. An adhesive composition comprising the copolymer latex is useful for boding fibers, particularly polyester fibers, to rubber with a high adhesion strength.

  • Patent number: 5159010
Abstract: An adhesive composition for adhering an organic synthetic fiber to a nitrile group-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber, said composition comprising a nitrile group-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber latex having an iodine value of not more than 120 and a resorcinol-formaldehyde resin, characterized in that the nitrile group-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber latex is obtained by treating a nitrile group-containing unsaturated copolymer rubber latex resulting from emulsion polymerization with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst to selectively hydrogenate a carbon-carbon double bond of the nitrile group-containing unsaturated copolymer constituting said latex.

  • Patent number: 5122397
Abstract: A method of treating polyester fibers, which comprises(1) treating the polyester fibers with an adhesive composition (AR) comprising a latex (A) of a vinylpyridine/conjugated diene copolymer having a vinylpyridine unit content of at least 20% by weight but not more than 70% by weight and a resorcinol-formaldehyde resin as main components, and(2) further treating it with an adhesive composition (BR) comprising a latex (B) of a ntirile group-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber having an iodine number of not more than 120 and a resorcinol-formaldehyde resin as main components. A composite obtained by bonding the treated polyester fibers to a nitrile group-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber by vulcanization has high initial and heat-resistant adhesion strength, and is useful for production of timing belts and polyribbed belts.
