Patent number: 8400897Abstract: Provided is a storage mechanism that readably migrates a content of data from one recording medium to another over generations in a readable manner and provides the contents of the records from a current recording medium. A read/write controller comprises a mechanism for preparing an archive recording medium of a first generation having a plurality of records recorded therein and a mechanism for migrating the records from the recording medium of the first generation to a recording medium of the next generation (the third generation subsequent to the first generation) and further to recording media of following generations one by one. The migration mechanism generates migration information including a mapping table between record numbers of the first generation and a current generation and holds the migration information as data in the recording medium of the current generation.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2011Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Hiroshi Itagaki, Yutaka Oishi

Publication number: 20130003212Abstract: Provided is a method for recording data to a tape medium in such a manner as to achieve the easy management of mutually related multiple data pieces. First data and second data continuously received as a file from a higher level apparatus are accumulated in multiple buffer segments in the form of multiple successive data sets. A data structure is determined for each of the accumulated data sets. Management information indicating a result of the determination is added to the data sets, and the data sets and the management information thereof are stored into the tape medium.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 27, 2012Publication date: January 3, 2013Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Hiroshi ITAGAKI, Toshiyuki SHIRATORI

Patent number: 7903363Abstract: A method to write information to a tape storage medium by disposing a tape storage medium in a tape drive apparatus comprising a write head. The method moves the tape storage medium in a first direction, writes data from a buffer to the tape storage medium, and thereby empties the buffer while the tape storage medium is moving in the first direction. The method determines, while the tape storage medium is moving in the first direction, whether to enable a backhitchless write wherein the tape storage medium is not stopped and moved in a second and opposition direction, prior to writing new data to the tape storage medium. By not stopping the movement of the tape storage medium, and by not moving the tape storage medium in a reverse direction to reposition the write head, the method eliminates the time overhead required to stop the tape and reposition the tape head. Applicants' method achieves this time efficiency without adverse impact to the nominal storage capacity of the tape information medium.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2008Date of Patent: March 8, 2011Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Hiroshi Itagaki, James Mitchell Karp, Takashi Katagiri, Motoko Oe, Yutaka Ooishi

Publication number: 20100278760Abstract: The cosmetic of the present invention is a cosmetic that alleviates skin irritation by blending in polypropylene glycol, a specific polar oil, or polybutylene glycol, as well as an ultraviolet absorbent. The present invention also relates to an agent and a method for alleviating irritation by lipophilic drugs. Since the present invention alleviates skin irritation due to ultraviolet absorbents and lipophilic drugs in cosmetics, any amount of ultraviolet absorbents and lipophilic drugs can be blended in cosmetics, and therefore cosmetics that can fully manifest their effects can be provided. Also, it is possible to prepare a safe sunblock cosmetic with superior ultraviolet protection effects because the ultraviolet absorbent is not absorbed through skin.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2009Publication date: November 4, 2010Applicant: SHISEIDO COMPANY,LTD.Inventors: Hirokazu Kouzuki, Morihiro Hirota, Tomoyuki Inaba, Haruhiko Inoue, Hiroshi Itagaki, Hiroyuki Kakoki, Takafumi Kurosawa
