  • Patent number: 8667218
Abstract: A RAID group of RAID 1 series comprises one or more pairs of first storage devices and second storage devices. A storage apparatus reads data from the entire area of a first storage block group including the write destination of write target data in the first storage device. The storage apparatus, in accordance with the write target data and staging data which is the read data, generates one or more data units each of which is the data configured of the write target data or the copy of the same and the staging data part or the copy of the same and of the same size as the first storage block group. The controller writes any of the one or more data units to the first storage block group in the first storage device and, at the same time, writes any of the one or more data units to the second storage block group corresponding to the first storage block group and of the same size as the same in the second storage device.

  • Patent number: 8443237
Abstract: An objective is to allow a storage apparatus to accurately locate a failure site upon occurrence of a failure. Provided is a storage apparatus 10 including: a controller 11 that performs data input and data output into and from a storage drive 171 in response to a data input/output request sent from an external device 2; and expanders 112, 121 each having a switch circuit 1122 provided with a physical port (Phy 1121). In this storage apparatus 10, the controller 11 performs a loopback diagnosis on the expanders 112, 121, and performs a connection-based diagnosis on a target device by sending a connection frame thereto, the target device being a device detected as having a failure. When a response to the connection frame includes information indicating a failure, the controller 11 disables the physical port to which the target device is coupled, or the physical port of the switch circuit 1121 existing on a path from the controller 11 to the target device.

  • Patent number: 8095820
Abstract: A RAID group is configured and operated by using multiple storage drives 171 and expanders 112 and 121 connected with the storage drives 171. If a failure related to any storage drive 171 is detected, a storage system 10 which issues a broadcast and a discover command to the communication path of the storage drive 171 manages a broadcast inhibiting flag for setting the information showing whether to inhibit transmission of broadcast per storage drive 171. If a failure occurs to a storage drive 171 constituting a RAID group whose redundancy is lost, the storage system 10 sets the broadcast inhibiting flag to inhibiting the broadcast transmission, and if a failure related to the storage drive 171 occurs and the broadcast inhibiting flag of the storage drive 171 is being set to inhibiting the transmission, inhibits the transmission of the broadcast.

  • Patent number: 7730474
Abstract: When the main power source is turned on, a storage system creates a revision table for storing the revision of main firmware installed in a resource management processor of the storage system. Next, the main firmware is loaded from a system drive into a cache memory. • Patent number: 5410196
Abstract: An object of the present invention is enhancing a capability of integration of a frequency finding circuit for finding a frequency of an input signal. A signal sampling circuit (21), sampling the input signal, utilizes a sampling signal (G) to convert the input signal into a sampled input signal (S) and inputs it to the frequency finding circuit. A resultant signal (K) from the frequency detecting circuit represents a specific frequency component contained in the input signal and is compared with a specified threshold value by a voltage comparator (25). Although a deciding signal (P) is produced as a result of the comparing, it contains unrequired components other than a sampling period. In order to eliminate the needless components, after sampling the deciding signal (P) in accordance with the sampling signal (G) again, an output circuit (50) latches it. The output circuit (50) includes a latch circuit (26) operating in accordance with the sampling signal G.
