  • Patent number: 7610262
Abstract: The present invention relates to a file management technique using indexes, wherein retrieval results and conditions for retrieval are recorded and stored on an entry for a virtual folder on the index for efficient later use. By this feature, objects for retrieval can be refined by using the recorded retrieval results, so that the processing for retrieval can substantially be simplified.

  • Patent number: 7599906
Abstract: A file managing apparatus is disclosed which is capable of restoring deleted files with ease. When a user gives an instruction to delete a file 6, a parent entry number for the file 6 is changed from “1” to “2” in a property list having the entry number 6 associated with the file 6. Because the parent entry number that is set for the value “2” points to the entry of a recycle bin, the file 6 is placed in a virtually deleted state. Any virtually deleted file is later restored easily through simple processing.

  • Patent number: 7487175
Abstract: A recording apparatus such as an optical disk and a file management method are disclosed by which, where an index file is formed from groups of data wherein extract information is collected for different types and one of the groups of data is used to collectively manage the other groups of data, a process relating to deletion or addition of extract information can be executed simply, easily, and with certainty. In each of slots of a property entry, information representing whether the slot is valid or invalid and information representative of a relationship to different slots to which extract information relating to the same file is allocated are recorded, and a combination of the slots in which the extract information of the one file is allocated is managed with the property entry.

  • Publication number: 20080177775
Abstract: To perform update processing and the like of an index file relating to change of a hierarchical structure easily and rapidly. The index file is recorded in a recording medium 2 with content files. The index file is generated based on attribute information of content files and folders including the content files. Content files and folders form a hierarchical structure in which the folders are in an upper hierarchy. In the index file, a prescribed number of entries (management information areas) corresponding to content files and folders respectively are provided. Second index information indicating second entries corresponding to folders or content files positioned in a lower hierarchy of folders in the upper hierarchy is provided at first entries corresponding to folders in the upper hierarchy in a list format. First index information indicating the first entries is provided at the second entries.

  • Publication number: 20080131073
Abstract: An information processing apparatus may generate resource information used for playing back image content that can be divided into a plurality of zones. The information processing apparatus may include an image generator generating a still image from each of the plurality of zones, a face processor setting each of the plurality of zones to be a target zone and determining whether a face of a specific character which is determined to continuously appear in at least one zone before the target zone is contained in the still image generated from the target zone, and an information generator specifying, on the basis of a determination result obtained for each of the plurality of zones by the face processor, at least one zone in which the face of the specific character continuously appears as a face zone, and generating information concerning the face zone as one item of the resource information.

  • Patent number: 7372795
Abstract: Before each content file is recorded first to a recording medium, a flag indicating a recording state of a content file is generated corresponding to a physical area where an index file can be continuously recorded. An index file is generated which associates attribute information with the generated flag added thereto with real data of each content file, and the generated index file is recorded to the recording medium. Since fragmentation of the physical area where the index file is recorded is restrained to a minimum level, a high-speed reading operation is realized.

  • Publication number: 20080068962
Abstract: The occurrence of fragments is suppressed in an index file that manages individual contents files recorded on a recording medium. On an optical disk 2, a contents file and an index file that manages each of the contents files are recorded. The index file is formed of attribute information of each of the contents files (including text data of a title, thumbnail image data and so on). When a predetermined contents file is recorded on the optical disk 2, a microcomputer 19 updates an index file so as to register this predetermined contents file in the index file. In this case, the microcomputer 19 secures a predetermined number of continuous slots in fixed length in the index file, and allocates attribute information of this predetermined contents file to the slots. For example, a predetermined number is set to the maximum number of the slots, or to the average number of the slots to be predicted for use in order to register the contents file.

  • Publication number: 20080022230
Abstract: An information processing apparatus may control display of a GUI image including indexes that allow a user to select the entirety or part of an image content piece. The information processing apparatus may include a controller configured to control display of a first GUI image including an index of each of at least one image content piece, and to control a display of a second GUI image including face thumbnail images, which serve as indexes that allow the user to select the entirety or part of an image content piece corresponding to an index selected from the first GUI image by the user, the face thumbnail images corresponding to faces detected from the entirety or part of the image content piece.

  • Publication number: 20070263102
Abstract: Image information regarding image data recorded on a storage medium is efficiently recorded, regardless of a storage medium type. Thumbnail files 600 to 609 hold thumbnail slots 620 to 629, respectively. Each of the thumbnail slots 620 to 629 holds, as a thumbnail, a representative image of corresponding image data. Text files 700 to 709 hold text slots 720 to 729, respectively. Each of the text slots 720 to 729 holds text information regarding corresponding image data. An attribute file 509 holds an attribute file header 519 and an attribute slot 529. The thumbnail slots 620 to 629 and the text files 700 to 709 are referred to from the attribute slot 529.

  • Publication number: 20070260618
Abstract: Content files and an index file for managing the content files are recorded in a recording medium. The index file includes, for example, a text file FTX, a thumbnail picture file FTH, and a property file FP. The files each have continuous fixed-length slots. The fixed-length slots are each managed by a slot number (index information) indicative of the order of arrangement thereof. Each file has a predetermined number of management information areas including one or a plurality of continuous fixed-length slots. The management information areas are identified by the index information of the first fixed-length slot. A predetermined entry has a slot number for identifying another entry. The data on the other entry can be acquired by detecting the location of the other entry on the index file.

  • Publication number: 20070165114
Abstract: To search image information regarding image data, recorded on a storage medium, based on a desired search condition and to perform efficient display. An attribute-information obtaining section 221 obtains attributes. For respective chapters, the attributes are held by an attribute file 500. A condition searching section 223 searches the attributes for the respective chapters in accordance with a condition input from a condition inputting section 222. A thumbnail obtaining section 224 obtains thumbnails that match the search condition. An index displaying section 226 displays the obtained thumbnails. When a thumbnail is selected via an image selecting section 227, an image reproducing section 228 reproduces image data in accordance with link information extracted by a link-information extracting section 225.
