  • Publication number: 20060218257
Abstract: An apparatus has network capability for communicating with other device through an IP network. The apparatus includes: a network interface that establishes a connection to the IP network; a DHCP address acquisition unit that acquires a first IP address pursuant to DHCP; an Auto IP address acquisition unit that acquires a second IP address pursuant to AutoIP; and a process controller that controls the DHCP address acquisition unit and the AutoIP address acquisition unit to substantially simultaneously start acquiring the first IP address and the second IP address, and assigns to the network interface either one of the first IP address and the second IP address in accordance with an acquisition state of the first IP address and an acquisition state of the second IP address, when establishing a connection to the IP network.

  • Publication number: 20050047749
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a content data recording apparatus for recording content data into a recording media comprises a receiving unit for receiving content data, a recording unit for recording the received content data into a first region of a recording media while replacing with older content data existing therein, the first region sustaining a predetermined capacity, an inputting unit for inputting a preserving instruction in order to preserve a certain content data, and a copying unit, corresponding to the preserving instruction, for copying the certain content data into a second region if the certain content data exists in the first region and the capacity of the second region is sufficient to preserve the certain content data.

  • Patent number: 6209019
Abstract: It is an object of this invention to provide a data processing system, computer network, and data processing method which enable alternate programs to run without degrading the system processing performance. When control of a program executed by the executing means 1 reaches a pre-defined execution checkpoint, the notifying means 3 issues an interrupt instruction and the sending/receiving means 4 sends this instruction to other nodes. In a node where this interrupt instruction is received, the interrupt controlling means 5 causes the executing means 1 to interrupt processing if program control has not yet reached a pre-defined execution checkpoint in the node.

  • Patent number: 6178444
Abstract: Data processing systems, each belonging to one of a number of program groups, are connected to a network. Each group includes a data processing system containing a sequencer which determines the sequence of messages transferred over the network. The sequencer of each data processing system is either in the “operation mode” or in the “standby mode.” A sequencer in the standby mode declares the operation mode independently of other sequencers and sends this operation mode declaration to the sequencers of the other data processing systems. When the operation mode declaration is sent a number of times equal to a specified count, the sequencer becomes the operation mode sequencer. When the operation mode sequencer stops, some other standby mode sequencer takes over the function of the operation mode sequencer, thus maintaining consistency in the sequence of messages to be sent to a plurality of data processing systems connected to the network.

  • Patent number: 6145009
Abstract: When inexecutable event occurs, an event format conversion rules table is referred to in order to convert the format of the event, then the communication message including the converted event is transmitted through a network. If the communication message is received through the network, the converted event is re-converted into an event that has an executable format by referring to the event format conversion rules table. An event filter refers to an event filter table that has processing necessity information for each event and sends only an event that needs to be processed to an event processing portion. Even if the local system cannot execute an event, the event is transmitted to another system through a communicating portion.

  • Patent number: 5933839
Abstract: A high-reliability file system which surely keeps multiple file data on one drive even if some drives have failed. If renewal of a plurality of blocks of a disk by data in a buffer is necessary, a buffer manager renews the disk by all the data in the buffer which are to be renewed in the future. Flush management is carried out by the drive and the buffer manager. If another drive is "examining" or "renewing" when a flush (renewal) is to be executed, a sequencing means temporarily restrains the buffer manager from starting the flush.
