  • Patent number: 4668076
Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus equipped with a first and second supporting frames connected to each other for relative pivotal movement between an open position and a closed position. The rotatable drum and the developing device are mounted on a first unit frame, while the drum cleaning device and the charging corona discharge device are mounted on a second unit frame. The first unit frame and the second unit frame are each mounted on the upper supporting frame with the cleaning device, the charging corona discharge device and the developing device mounted around the drum in sequence in the drum rotating direction. The first unit frame and the second unit frame are detachably mounted on the upper supporting frame and thus can be readily accessed for maintenance.

  • Patent number: 4566780
Abstract: A shell-type electrostatic copying apparatus comprising a lower supporting frame, an upper supporting frame mounted on the lower supporting frame for free pivotal movement between an open position and a closed position, and a unit which includes a unit frame and a rotating drum mounted rotatably on the unit frame and adapted to be detachably mounted on the upper supporting frame. A provisional unit placing means is provided in the lower supporting frame for supporting the unit frame movably. The unit is mounted detachably on the upper supporting frame by placing the unit on the provisional unit placing means, pivoting the upper supporting frame from the open position to the closed position and then moving the unit in a specified direction.

  • Patent number: 4555173
Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus equipped with a first and second supporting frames connected to each other for relative pivotal movement between an open position and a closed position. The first supporting frame has provided therein a rotatably mounted interlocking input gear and a first power transmission system drivingly connected to the interlocking input gear. The second supporting frame has provided therein a drive source, a second power transmission system drivingly connected to the drive source and a rotatably mounted interlocking output gear drivingly connected to the drive source. A pivot member mounted pivotally about the axis of rotation of the interlocking input gear or the interlocking output gear and elastically held at a predetermined angular position by a spring means is provided in the first or second supporting frame. An interlocking linking gear is rotatably mounted on the pivot member.

  • Patent number: 4530598
Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus having a document holding device and a semi-automatic document feeding and discharging device provided on the top of a housing. The semi-automatic document feeding and discharging device includes a main frame structure mounted for free turning between an operating position and a non-operating position. When the main frame structure is held at the operating position, a document conveying passage having an introducing section, a main section and a curved discharging section is defined.

  • Patent number: 4502779
Abstract: A cleaning device for use in an electrostatic copying machine removes with a blade any residual toner from a photosensitive body after a toner image has been transferred therefrom to a sheet of copying paper. A support shaft supports the blade for slidable contact with the photosensitive body and has a horizontal axis extending perpendicularly to a direction of travel of the photosensitive body. The support shaft is angularly movable about the axis and is axially movable. A rotational shaft is rotatable about an axis parallel to the support shaft. A first device converts rotational movement of the rotational shaft into reciprocal movement along the axis of the support shaft. A second device converts rotational movement of the rotational shaft into reciprocal angular movement of the support shaft. A third device releases interconnection between the rotational shaft and the first and second devices.

  • Patent number: 4481275
Abstract: A mass of residual charged toner is blocked by a blade member held in slidable engagement with a photosensitive member against movement therewith toward a development roller when an image is being formed on the photosensitive member. When no image is being formed thereon, the blade member is lifted off the photosensitive member to allow the mass of residual toner to move therewith toward the development roller. During this time, a bias potential having a polarity the same as that of the toner is applied to members of an electrostatic or electrographic copying machine located between the blade member and the development roller for repelling the mass of toner toward the photosensitive member against being scattered off the latter and hence smearing surrounding parts.
