    Abstract: The present invention relates to a puffer type gas circuit breaker wherein, in order to efficiently extinguish an electric arc struck when a movable arc contact is disengaged from a stationary arc contact, self-extinction by an arc extinguishing fluid in a gas storage chamber is performed conjointly with forced extinction by an arc extinguishing fluid in a puffer chamber, in accordance with the movement of the movable arc contact.
