Patent number: 5761639Abstract: A time series signal recognition capable of obtaining a high recognition rate even for the speech data with low S/N ratio in noisy environments. The time series signals are recognized by extracting a plurality of candidate feature vectors characterizing an individual time series signal, without fixing a boundary for the individual time series signal. Similarity values are calculated for each of the plurality of candidate feature vectors and the reference patterns stored in the recognition dictionary, from which one reference pattern for which the similarity value is greater than a prescribed threshold value is selected as a recognition result. New reference patterns to be stored in the recognition dictionary are learned by acquiring actual background noise of the apparatus, and mixing prescribed noiseless signal patterns with the acquired background noise to form signal patterns for learning.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1994Date of Patent: June 2, 1998Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Yoich Takebayashi, Hiroshi Kanazawa, Hiroyuki Chimoto

Patent number: 5608709Abstract: A recording/reproducing apparatus incorporates a beam splitter arrangement that directs stray reflected light away from the incident and exit paths. The beam splitter is arranged such that refracting surfaces are angled away from a 45 degree angle by an amount corresponding to a refracted angle of an incident beam. The entire beam splitter is arranged in the recording/reproducing apparatus such that the refracted beam is refracted by a predetermined angle based on the known refractive index of the beam splitter prisms and the orientation of the beam splitter.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1994Date of Patent: March 4, 1997Assignee: Asahi Kogaku Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Isao Okuda, Shimpei Shinozaki, Hiroshi Kanazawa, Suguru Takishima

Patent number: 5432644Abstract: A motor has a stator and a rotor, the stator having cores and drive coils which generate magnetic fields for rotating the rotor. The stator also has a yoke surrounding the rotor and the rotor is positioned such that it is closer to one part of the outer periphery of the yoke than another part of the outer periphery of the yoke. Such a motor is particularly suitable for use in a disk drive unit as a spindle motor for rotating the disk. Then an actuator for moving a head may be located adjacent the part of the outer periphery of the yoke which is closest to the rotor. This permits the head to approach closely the axis of rotation of the disk without the spindle motor interferring with the movement of the head. The continuous yoke prevents magnetic flux leakage from the spindle motor interferring with the actuator. The actuator may itself have a yoke integral with the yoke of the spindle motor, and/or other components in common.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1994Date of Patent: July 11, 1995Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Japan Servo Co., Ltd.Inventors: Fumio Tajima, Hiroshi Kanazawa, Hiroshi Katayama, Kazuo Ohnishi, Tadashi Takahashi, Nobuyoshi Mutoh, Shigeki Morinaga, Nobuyoshi Tsuboi, Hideki Nihei

Patent number: 5315689Abstract: A speech recognition system includes a parameter extracting section for extracting a speech parameter of input speech, a first recognizing section for performing recognition processing by word-based matching, and a second recognizing section for performing word recognition by matching in units of word constituent elements. The first word recognizing section segments the speech parameter in units of words to extract a word speech pattern and performs word recognition by matching the word speech pattern with a predetermined word reference pattern. The second word recognizing section performs recognition in units of word constituent elements by using the extracted speech parameter and performs word recognition on the basis of candidates of an obtained word constituent element series.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1992Date of Patent: May 24, 1994Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Hiroshi Kanazawa, Yoichi Takebayashi
