  • Patent number: 6795669
Abstract: A first control member is disposed in a drum shaft away from a photoconductive drum, and a second control member is disposed in a roller shaft away from a transfer roller. The first and second control members abut on each other at their circumferential surfaces. This helps reduce an amount of displacement resulting from an impact caused by insertion of a recording paper sheet in between the photoconductive drum and the transfer roller, and thereby reduce vibrations in the photoconductive drum. Consequently, a toner image formed on the photoconductive drum and an unfixed toner image transferred onto the recording paper sheet are not affected by vibrations, so that a high-quality image is obtained that is free from blurriness or irregularities.

  • Patent number: 6710810
Abstract: An apparatus for enhancing the resolution of video data in a reduced scale of apparatus, and a video signal processing apparatus for freely setting the number of video data sequences for enhancing the resolution, is created from one horizontal scanning line portion of an incoming video data sequence, without changing the circuit configuration. The resolution enhancement processing apparatus stores every one horizontal line portion of each video data in an incoming video data sequence sequentially in a plurality of memories. A first video data group and a second video data group of horizontal scanning line portion of different scan periods are read repetitively N times within one horizontal scan period. The first video data group and the second video data group are mixed at varying mixing ratios to generate a video data sequence which has the vertical resolution enhanced by a factor of N.

  • Patent number: 6678494
Abstract: An object of the invention is to convey a transfer material properly and securely in a simple structure even where space allowance is limited. An image forming apparatus has a photoconductive body and a transfer device composed of a transfer roller. After a developer image formed on the photoconductive body is electrostatically transferred onto a sheet by the transfer roller, a rear end of the sheet having passed through opposed regions of the transfer roller and the photoconductive body is, by a guiding roller arranged at a downstream side of the opposed portions along a sheet conveying path, guided in conveyance from a non-transferred surface of the transfer material so that it is kept out of contact with the transfer roller.

  • Publication number: 20030139241
Abstract: A toothed belt transmission is provided in which a toothed belt is trained around drive and driven pulleys. Each toothed pulley has a circumferential periphery formed with a plurality of teeth. Adjacent teeth are assigned as a first tooth portion and a second tooth portion. Respective tooth portions have arcuate portions at corners defined between tooth edges and tooth surfaces. A line touching the arcuate portions of the first and second tooth portions is assigned as a common tangential line. A line passing over a starting point of the arcuate portion of the tooth edge of the first tooth is assigned as a first tangential line. An angle between the common tangential line and the first tangential line falls in a range between 6° and 14.4°.

  • Publication number: 20030053813
Abstract: A toner pattern image is formed on a surface of a photoreceptor, and an amount of toner adhering to a transferring belt is estimated in accordance with a concentration detecting signal of the toner pattern image, and a time or a voltage at which a bias having the same polarity as the toner is applied to the transferring belt is determined, so as to perform the cleaning step of the transferring belt. Thus, it is possible to minimize a time required in cleaning without performing an unnecessary cleaning operation, so that it is possible to efficiently re-transfer images to the photoreceptor in a short time. For example, it is possible to restrict damages given to parts such as the photoreceptor that constitute an image forming section.

  • Patent number: 6529854
Abstract: A coordinate position detecting method uses a plurality of light emitting elements and a plurality of light receiving elements located on mutually opposite sides, all the elements being arranged at a predetermined interval in horizontal and vertical directions, with each pair of mutually opposed light emitting element and light receiving element forming a light beam path, such that the coordinate position of a light blocking object can be detected once the light beam path is blocked. The method comprises: storing N previous coordinate datas obtained when detecting a movement of the light blocking ojecte, using n (1≦n≦N) coordinate datas of the N previous coordinate datas to calculate a coordinate position of the light blocking object; and changing the number of the coordinate datas for use in calculating the coordinate position, in accordance with a speed of the movment of the light blocking object.

  • Publication number: 20020159778
Abstract: When the developer supply unit (18) is mounted to the predetermined position of the machine base (1), the detector (32) disposed on the machine side extracts the information managed by the management portion (31) of the unit (18). Based on this management information, the decision portion (35) of the controller (33) determines the characteristics of the developer supply unit (18) to decide the operating conditions of each unit portion. At the same time, the operational environment under which the machine will be installed is decided based on the determined result.

  • Patent number: 6466753
Abstract: A support structure comprises a pair of mounting members and a pair of connecting members, which are joined together by a joining member. The image reading unit is mounted on the top surfaces of the mounting members. The connecting members are disposed vertically, and the respective mounting members are supported on the top ends of the connecting members in a cantilevered manner. Securing portions are formed on each of the connecting members in the vicinity of the bottom end thereof at at least two locations vertically spaced apart from each other. The support structure is integrally secured to the paper feed unit via the securing portions of the connecting members, and the image reading unit integrally moves together with the support structure according to the horizontal movement of the image forming unit and the paper feed unit. Accordingly, the image reading unit does not fall off the support structure.

  • Publication number: 20020146235
Abstract: A hard disc recorder searches some pieces of information that match a search condition from a plurality of pieces of information recorded on a recording medium. The hard disc recorder then prepares playback order information to successively play the searched pieces of information in a desired order. A new name is assigned to the searched pieces of information on the basis of the search condition.
