  • Patent number: 8789985
Abstract: A light source used in a lighting fixture with a socket housing with a pair of plug-in receptacles has a pair of pins that are plugged into the socket housing, an LED assembly, a driver module for driving the LED assembly which is in physical and electrical contact with the pair of pins, and a light source heat sink for dissipating heat from the light source. A heat-dissipating member is physically and thermally connected to the light source heat sink and is also thermally connected to the socket housing, and the driver module thermally insulates the light source heat sink from the socket housing.

  • Patent number: 7494251
Abstract: An outdoor lighting fixture is disclosed including a first housing containing the fixture ballast or power supply, a second housing enclosing a lamp. Each of the housings is sealed. A support stem joins the two housings and defines a thermal air gap between the two. The only conductive thermal path between the two housings is through the stem and the fasteners engaging the stem and the two housings. In one embodiment, a plurality of tubular spacers are located on elongated screw fasteners define the size of air gap. In another embodiment a single fastener includes washers defining the air gap size. In that embodiment, the fastener may be hollow and acts as a conduit for the electrical leads for the fixture. In another embodiment one closure for a housing includes fins for cooling the fixture.

  • Patent number: 6540374
Abstract: An in-ground light fixture is disclosed having multiple separate and watertight compartments for the various components of the fixture, allowing for maintenance and service of the fixture without exposing weather-sensitive components to the elements. The fixture also includes a pan and tilt assembly, which can be selectively controlled with a common household tool to change the direction of the light without having to access the pan and tilt assembly.

  • Patent number: 5713662
Abstract: An adjustable angle lamp fixture is disclosed including a housing with a pair of annular oppositely disposed surfaces with a wireway therethrough. A pair of hat shaped members each face a respective annular surface on the housing. A pair of arms bias the hat shaped members against the annular surface on the housing. The housing may rotate about an axis defined by the hat shaped members with the wires for a lamp contained within the housing extending from a base to the housing without restriction within the range of angular rotation.

  • Patent number: 5599091
Abstract: A lamp fixture includes a lamp assembly in a generally cylindrical housing having a radially extending flange at one end. A base for the housing includes mating halves each of which has a flange at one end, these flanges cooperating with the radially extending flange to form a pivot connection between the housing and the base. A pair of contact members of conducting material having arcuate contact surfaces are secured in the pivot connection on opposite sides of the radially extending flange and are connected to electrical terminals in the base. A pair of contact pins connected to the lamp assembly ride on the arcuate contact surfaces throughout any adjustment of the pivot connection. Electrical terminals in the base are fastened to the contact members. Positioned between the mating halves of the base is a wire guide which includes grooves cooperating with grooves in the mating halves to direct conducting wires to the terminals.

  • Patent number: 5203627
Abstract: A lighting fixture designed particularly for exterior garden, walkway or yard lighting. The housing is in the form of a pair of mating ceramic housing parts which form a light emitting opening. The ceramic housing parts include integral groove for positioning a lens or transparent opening closure, filters for changing the color of the light emitted and a lamp-reflector assembly. The ceramic housing provides a virtually moisture impervious dielectric housing which includes, as integral parts of the housing, all of the necessary functions except fasteners.

  • Patent number: 5165777
Abstract: An illuminated fountain includes a housing with a water chamber in the housing having a cap with perforations and a transparent bottom panel, a lamp in the housing and a mirror for reflecting light from said lamp through the bottom panel of the water chamber. A source of electrical energy is connected to the housing and a pressure switch in the housing is connected between the electrical energy source and the lamp. The pressure switch has a fluid connection with the inlet to the water chamber such that it delivers current to the lamp only when water is flowing to the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4333071
Abstract: An electrical translation circuit for detecting the initiation and termination of a turn or change in direction of a motorcycle, automobile, boat or other like vehicle and the cancellation of the turn indicator for that vehicle. Sensors detect relative steering angle, distance and velocity of the vehicle processing same to cancel a manually operated turn indicator. The detected change in steering angle is coupled with processed signals indicative of appropriate forward movement of the vehicle. The combined signals initiate a cancellation signal which will terminate the vehicle turn indicator signal. The vehicle turn indicator signal will not be reset until there has been an appropriate retracement of the steering angle coupled with appropriate forward movement of the vehicle thereby precluding inadvertent reset signals arising from lane changes or vehicle stoppage during the turning operation.

  • Patent number: 3937568
Abstract: Advance shaft carries a sprocket for film engagement and carries manual knob for manually-controlled rotation. Framing shaft is rotatable with respect to projector housing and has an o-ring therebetween to serve as a drag brake. Advance shaft is detented with respect to framing shaft by means of an embracing spring. The drag brake of the framing shaft has a greater torque than the detent of the advance shaft with respect to the framing shaft.
